I took a road trip to Louisiana recently and thought i'd try out the Cobb Stg. 2 Economy Map. Over 600 miles one way with the map, i averaged 26mpg highway. The way back i loaded the regular stage 2 map back up and got 24.5mpg. I dont know if that was because of the elevation change? Has anyone else had luck with it? I assume it keeps you off boost and that doesn't really matter too much for highway driving just cruising at 80mph.
I have never really looked into it much...not sure what changes they make other than lowering boost. I really wish there were some way to switch on the fly with the AP rather than having to plug in the AP and go through the change.
That all depends on a lot of things: wind, elevation, tires etc. I think its generally considered that the economy map doesn't really do much. I have heard that stage one can sometimes benefit in the mpg department. course, I'm pretty happy with my 30+ on the highway. Doubt the map would improve me much.
no the valet mode limits your rpm to 3000 and turns off boost control. I doubt you'd be able to drive it on the highway My car has always been a gas hog though, i had my tires inflated properly and everything :dunno
Long as you stay out of the boost you should get good gas mileage, lol. I just enjoy the boost too much though.
The Cobb econo map limits your boost and advances timing. If you shift early, you're already limiting boost. When you spend two hours on the freeway at any speed, your boost is lower than the econo map blocks at. In all cases, the map tries to give gas "equivalent" to the air that's running through the engine. I have never gotten much out of it.
