 True.. If your engine code if from a catless down pipe I know a trick that worked for me. Keep in mind, I dont know if this has any negative effects on your car so take it for what its worth. I had a CEL from my catless DP so I went to the parts store and got a pair of spark plug non-foulers with the same thread pattern as the 02 sensor. I drilled out one of them so that the 02 would thread through it. Then I screwed on the second non-fouler onto the one with the 02 in it. Then I re-installed it on my DP, reset my ECU and drove around for 50 or so miles (you have to do this to pass after resetting). Just put it back to normal after the test. No CEL b/c your 02 will be reading through a small hole. This worked for me and SUBY_RUE. IDK if that will help, GOOD LUCK
They're starting next year to check under the car for cats on OBDII vehicles right? I saw that somewhere.
I'm getting tested tomorrow. I've got my fingers crossed for no visual check and that the emissions computer will sync up to the JDM ECU. I've at least got my old WRX ecu which will crank the car but I'll fail a visual for sure. I might just roll in there with some extra cash just in case.
Want to borrow my DP ? Or you can remove all the shields and bolt them up to your DP and make a visual cat
I'm getting CEL due to misfire, if i reset the computer and go straight to emissions, would I fail? Does the emission software require certain amount of data of engine operation, in other words require the car being driven for a certain distance in order to sample data?
You will not pass as the ecu is not in a ready state. It takes several diving cycles and certain driving coditions have to be met. At one point I had a post on Nasioc bookmarked that had the conditions defined. Now I can't find them.
I'm getting p301 at idle now, not sure why Looks like I won't pass emission any time soon... let me know if you ever find that bookmark, thanks
You will not pass with a JDM ECU. I had one in my Honda and the OBDII device used at the emissions place could not connect to the JDM ECU. I went home, swapped in my USDM ecu and went back and passed.
Is it always p301? If so try moving the coil pack to another cylinder. If it follows its the coli pack. Tal is having the same issue but we have ruled out the coil packs. We are going to send the injectors off to get cleaned next.
Utter failure today, I was told that ver7 would fail and ver8 would pass but that was incorrect, at least in GA. "No RPM signal found". Going to get a reflash on my old Ecutek ECU so I can limp to emissions and pass with flying colors.
Kreeger with his ver7 motor failed here in GA. Some states' emissions computers will pass JDM motors but unfortunately GA's will not.
