Most of you know about the oil issues I had at Talladega. I currently have my PCV system in external dump mode. This is fine when I am going in a straight line, but spits out oil during hard cornering. I was looking at Crawford's AOS but as slowwrx is designing one, I'm going to give his unit a shot first. At the upcoming Subaru Challenge, I doubt I will pull sustained G's like I did at Tally, but I would like to eliminate any chance of spilling oil on the course. I don't know if slowwrx's unit will be ready in time, so I need a temporary solution. I'm thinking about going with a 20oz coke bottle. Reasons for going with this: 1) Easy to mount using zip ties 2) Easily baffled by inserting a piece of cloth into the mouth of the bottle around the inlet tube 3) Easy to see how much oil gets into it However, there are two concerns: 1) Will the plastic hold up to under hood temperatures, being as close as it will be to the turbo and downpipe? 2) Will I pass tech inspection? Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Can't you mount it next to the transmission wishbone mount? That's futher away from the turbo and downpipe.
Mount it down where the stock airbox was...no problems there. Or over at the pitch stopper like CoolRex said.
yeah i think mike (liquidforce) has a soup can, haha. i picked up one off of ebay for like 30 bucks shipped, probly cheaper.
I don't want to spend any money on a catch can. I'll spend it on an AOS. After the challenge, I'll probably take the bottle out and put it back in dump mode. Everyone complains that we are consuming too much oil. I'm just giving some back to the earth
