hey I totally got my moneys worth from escort sr7 + shifters today.
There is a dark stretch of straight road on lavista between tucker high and
northlake mall. The past few nights when I was driving home everytime
I passed a specific street on the right there were blue lights with some
    chap pulled over.

Tonight I was coasting around 55mph (in 45 zone) and the cop
hit me with a laser. I instantly tapped my brakes.
The street was completely dark and it was seconds later before I found him.
Usually a the false alerts turn on the laser jammer briefly (from sunsets
and HID's) but this time the jammer kept going.

As I pass the cop I saw him lower his gun and look up at me and then
as his laser gun. Then after I passed him he hit me again. My
rear jammers went off. He must have gotten a jam signal on his gun.
I was afraid he might pull up behind me but he didn't.

The whole incident was nerve racking because I usually am a crazy
driver. But it put a smile on my face :)

Aren't jammers illegal in GA? If so, and you were the only one on the road, would he have probably cause to pull you over and inspect your car for jammers?

Radar jammers are illegal. I'm pretty sure laser jammers are legit, unless something changed in the last year or so. I still wouldn't put it past a cop to pull you over though. I think I remember hearing about some people having a system where they could manually flip their jammer off once they got down to a reasonable speed so the officer could still get a signal.

Laser Jammers are kind of a grey area in the law, it depends on the state. only high end active ones like his work.
passive laser jammers just dont work

active radar jammers are illegal. but do work
passive radar jammers dont work either.

    active jammers = illegal.

    passive jammers = legal.

    What's the difference? Got me!

active is constantly sending out noise/chirps on detection frequency to alter the return waves response to the device. passive is suppose to come on and do that only upon detection but again, based on the link i provided above. enough proof passive doesn't work

Try to turn if off once you are in safer speed. (hit mute button twice for my ZR3) in that way, when cop clock you again, he will get your reduced/legal speed. In this way, you will minimize the risk of getting unwanted attention.

exactly, soon as your laser jammer goes off, slow down and turn it off. They should have an option that does it automatically...

Well the sr7 + shifter doesn't turn on until it detects a signal. So is that passive?
Anyway, I've had my doubts until tonight. I know he was suspicious because when I passed him
he hit me from behind. The laser signals don't spread out like radars, they have such a narrow
beam they can choose to hit one or the other headlights. My two front jammers are under the
    headlights. :)

Actually they do turn off after a while - like 2-3 seconds. By that time I had already passed him
(and slowed down). Then he tried to get my speed from behind and he jammer went off again lol

Maybe I am just dumb, but if you see a cop pulling people over on the same street for the past few nights, then maybe speeding on that street is a bad idea. You shouldn't need a radar detector, or jammer to protect you, since you should have already known that the street is highly patrolled. Maybe try slowing down a little and not relying on the electronic devices to get you out of trouble you could have easily avoided yourself.

I wasn't relying on it. I'm always conscious of my speed and surrounds. But there are certain situations
that can't be avoided such as going over a hill or if you're the only one on the road. Typically I
coast and go slower over those kinds of situations. Trust me I was already on guard on that street.

Yeah will stop talking in code. What are you trying to say?

    i dont know. Enlighten us.

    Cop was there again today.
this time i had cruise control locked in at 45
he still scanned me. I pushed the cancel button twice
    to stop the jamming lol
I think he still got the jam code
he hit me from behind after I passed him

Laser jammers are legal in GA, but radar jammers are illegal...doesn't matter passive or active. cops don't get a jam code on their gun...they get 0 (zero) speed and makes it seem like the gun isn't working. So like everyone said above...turn it off after you have slowed own. Mostly cops in GA don't bother giving tickets unless you are goin 14mp+ speed limit. Well also depends where you are...when the speed limit is enfocred (i.e school time, hospital)..then they'll give you a ticket even if you are going 2mph over. And Blinder M40/45 > Sr7

Without going the google rout for Wills secret code.. I'm guessing ECM/ECCM is ELECTRONIC COUNTER MEASURES and ELECTRONIC COUNTER COUNTER MEASURES... Similar to jet fighter tech to avoid/jam detection by other fighters and guys on the ground... Didn't know that stuff was around for cars, unless Will is talking about the above mentioned SR7, M40 stuff.

    Correct.

However, there is nothing publicly available for cars aside from the commercial Radar and Laser jamming systems. However, I'm sure someone has done something to retrofit some military level ECM/ECCM to a car to void the Cops detection systems...we just dont know about it since thats HIGHLY illegal on so many levels.

that'll be badass....knock out all radars and lasers detection devices within certain radius as you enter that area...automatic doors will go haywire . Wanna start on one? lol

So many electrical problems since that day...
