Forgive me, this is going to be a little long.... Ok, so I've been with my company for just over 4 years now, and things seem to be going down hill for me pretty quickly. I had an asshole boss whom I despise with a passion and he pretty much made me hate working EVERY DAY. He's transferred to a different district now, but what he's done to me pretty much fucked me over from wanting to do ANYTHING for the company....Well, that's not true. I just want to get out of a retail environment and into something else. For the most part, I enjoy what I do. What do I do? I'm a Team Lead for a a company called Flextronics. Our company has 80+ multi-billion dollar contracts with various vendors from Verizon Wireless, at&t, Apple, Dell, HP, GM (General Motors), etc. As most of you know, I'm in the Verizon Wireless aspect of it. We are in store 'technicians'. In reality, we are the backbone of a Corporate store. My reasons for wanting to look somewhere else are due to that fact that they (my bosses) are, in my opinion, focusing on the wrong part. They, at this point don't really care about making sure that the customer is 'serviced', as they are trying to get sales out of them. In my opinion, that's why we have sales reps in the store. But, I digress. I don't want to get too far off track here. What am I looking for? Something outside of retail....maybe even outside of sales. Obviously, my interests are cars, so, I'd like to possibly get some sort of job in a shop, or something of the sort. Dealerships are the devil, and I'd prefer not to go down that road. Working on cars is ok, I used to do it quite often (when I had 2 cars that rarely ran  ), but I'm thinking something more front end. Other than that, I'm pretty open to a lot of things. Some sales are definitely within reason, I just refuse to do cold calling and/or 'telemarketing'. As most of you know, I live in marietta. I'm a quick learner on things and for the most part, people oriented. I have great customer service (worked for publix for 7.5 years, then this company for four). I've also done a little work for Subaru. It was an awesome, summer job, and I had a LOT of fun. Now, my downside. I have ZERO college education. School wasn't really my thing and I never went, nor had the money to go. That's another story for another day that some of you know. Can't do ANYTHING military due to lots of hardware in my ankle. (2 plates, 4 pins, and 2 screws.) hnoes: Anyway, I'm all but done ranting right now. Anyone have any leads on anything? thanks!
Hey Matt, get in touch with 420. He said that the corporate Cingular/AT&T is always hiring, and with your background of years in the industry you would probably be a good applicant. Good luck, and I will keep my eyes open for you. ps - if you need anything, you know my number dude
lol...I did this so that I didn't have to search a LOT...I'll be out there looking for jobs more than I will be dependent on this thread.
Man I feel the same! I have been working as a tech for an eye surgen for 8 years and am tired of all the disrespect, added responsibility, and no wage increase!!! FUCK corprate america!!!!!!!!!!!
not true. this can be waived. you can join with hardware, as long as they determine it doesn't interfere with your duties. just takes a bit longer to join. did you consider joining in the past?
yes and no....only if it were a logistics job would I join.... and the ankle is as strong as the other one, BUT that one has a hairline fracture that I don't think ever healed. it hurts from time to time...
Matt email me your resume 4sevens@gmail.com We're a growing small company in that needs quality responsible self-motivated people
No  www.fenix-store.com We sell the brightest, most compact, longest running flashlights. I'm not exaggerating. We're based in Tucker, GA
Monster.com got me my job, although i agree that knowing people in the market you want to work in is very helpful. Also i do tech stuff which seems to be big on monster.com. Did you want something small to mid sized (80-3000ish) or big like IBM, GE (300,000)? We're in a sort of hiring freeze atm or i would offer to send your resume to some folks in the marketing/HR realm. Good luck though :wavey:
I need someone to make tacos for me. JK Good luck with the search. I might be joining the hunt soon as well.
Halfbaked did this for TheEnemy about 5 years ago back on the Nasioc boards when I was a noob. No, make that the original Iclub Matt, sorry about the job situation. You know I've been there. Hell, I'm on my fourth job in 6 years in Atlanta alone. There is work out there and this is a great city to find a job. Frankly, the retail car business is a good place for someone without a "formal" education. The hours suck and sometimes the people aren't fun to deal with (sounds like most jobs) but the money can be good and it is enjoyable to work around cars all the time. Plus, they are always hiring. Something to think about. Patrick
I tried that a couple years ago.....I gave away too many freebies. $15 per leaf raked, and $5 per bag stuffed....You've got a deal....esse
Thanks for that thought, Patrick...Got any openings at VW? Dealer or otherwise? I just hate the 'politics' that go on at dealerships....I've seen/heard about it far too many times. Still something to think about. 6 Jobs? I can count 4 right now, but drawing a blank on the other 2. I remember the job you had off Mansell, the Duro tire gig, SoA, and now VW....what's the other 2? PM if you like....
4 jobs in six years. 1.Locumtenens.com doctor recruiting firm 2. Duro Tire 3. SOA 4. VWOA Politics are everywhere my friend
David. I got your email. I will definitely call you soon. Thanks so I got it all correct!! I just thought that I read 6 jobs in 6 years....
