I wouldn't do it in ANY car. With the bugeye tranny, you need to be extra careful.

They just arent designed for that. It puts a lot of stress on the forks, thrust washers, etc. Not to mention the potential damage to the synchros. yea, it can be done, and even i have a bad habit of lifting off the throttle and dropping the car out of gear to coast sometimes.

Over the road truck trannys are designed so you can 'float' the gears without damage, cars just arent.

Maybe with a straight cut gearbox, and I've seen people do it in Corvettes, but yeah, with a bugeye transmission, no way dude. It takes great timing, and one missed shift.....well I don't really wanna think about that.

Sunny I know you have the STI tranny still I would not do it.
That is way to much stress on the forks.

I used to shift my civic without the clutch just to fool around...it was easy. There was a certain speed/rpm in each gear where if you can go to neutral, wait a second, then slide into the next gear no problem, no grind.

yea it's the same in most cars...only certain RPMs. I did it few times in my GSR to fool around too. Lower the speed slower it shiffted and faster (not crazy fast) you went...quicker it went in without a problem. I am still kinda new to subie world and knowing what lil mistake can cost...i kept honda ideas to the side lol.
