I am having a hard time removing the tank from the trunk. There are only two bolts that holds down the tank tray to the body and I already removed those. I am afraid something is going to break if I yank on it too hard, what directly do you pull? I know there is a little barb down to the bottom right...any inputs ? Thanks.
yes sir no sir I took it out already, it has a prop on the lower right. For anyone else to try in the future, remove two 10mm bolts that secures the tray from the body. Bend towards the driver side and pull hard.
I am assuming you are converting that tank into a meth tank instead of going with the spec-c tank for stealthiness. If so, remember that with everything hidden away, a leaking pump might be very hard to detect, and harder to swap if necessary.
Maybe his pump was already in there -- I spoke with Ming today and he said the new generation pumps are coming with new types of controllers.
actually the "new generation" is what Milo has, my pump was just too old and out dated. Being the older model, the controller has to be reflashed to work with the new pump, sorry for the confusion. I have a X brace that takes up the space where spec C tank should be mounted so I'm going with this route. I will leave the covering off for a good while to make sure the pump isn't leaking and will check often. I suppose this is the downside but I am tired of boiling methanol in the hot summer month. Thanks for the tip.
I would always leave it open enough to see if there is any methanol pooling under it. The leaks tend to start slow. You might not be able to see the drip, but if you keep a paper towel under it, it will be wet. I saw this on a friend's car.
Exactly, my plan is to keep pieces of blue shop towel underneath the pump, liquids are very noticeable on this : I wonder how common is this problem, I hope Steve takes care of this problem soon. Is the pump itself leaking or just how it seals to the tank/reservoir? If it's the actual pump unit that's leaking then it is a very serious problem, I wonder what's causing it and what component is failing to seal properly.
Mine isn't leaking. I believe my friend has the cooling mist kit. A lot of Steve's pumps leak, but most of the leaks happen to come from people using straight methanol. That's why I went mixed. Being miscible, water raises the boiling point of methanol, and methanol lowers the freezing point of water.
