I need a sub, maybe just a single 10" since my system isn't too extreme (nor do I want it to be, really...). However, I don't wanna just drop one in the trunk, since I use all my trunk space on a regular basis. Anyone have any ideas for me?
Sounds like you want to build a spare tire enclosure. You could buy my 10" for cheap cheap and then get some fiber glass and the instructions of Nasioc. Maintain all your trunk space and get a discrete solution to the sub issue...
The sub enclosure actually just fits into the spare tire, it would be less convenient to take it all out, but not to the point where you couldn't get your spare out to change if needed...

Another little known fact, or seemingly so, is that the "factory subwoofer" option actually works really well (with the little bullshit 6 inch sub unplugged).... so really it's just the amp that is good, and since the connectors are all there and extremely easy to work with, about all you have to do is run some speaker wire to whatever you're puttin in the trunk. You can find these things for really cheap because they absolutely suck if you're relying on that 6 inch sub... I thought it seemed cool from the performance perspective because the wieght is down low and the enclosure is completely out of the way and the wires are very clean, but it's the complete lack of audio performance offered by the tiny built in sub. You can't even hear that stupid thing.... but put the wattage to basically any big sub and it'll sound great if you aren't an audiophile. I love my lil setup, which is just that, wired to a 10 inch Memphis with quick disconnects.
There are some people that offer a pre made one, but these threads also discuss using the spare tire as a mold for fiberglass and then building a small enclosure from that...
You could buy a JL 8" (one of the best 8 inchers) and strategically hide it away in your trunk area. That would, without a doubt, fit in your spare tire.
That's what I was getting at. It looks like your setup has the amp elsewhere, instead of being mounted in the trunk somewhere so it's in the way. And I was just saying how good the factory sub/amp package is in terms of the amp itself because it'll push a 10 with no problem. Go down to an 8 and it's just a smaller box but with still an improved bass sound. The quick release inputs just make it that much easier to pull out when you need to throw some tires or whatever in the trunk
