Yesterday I picked up my new trunk and Syms wing (thanks slowwrx!) and the car is looking hot! I got in touch with Milo and met up with him. After asking Milo his honest opinion and me telling him that I'm sick of cleaning my rims every two days (Hawk HP+ pads = dirty rims all the time) he made a very good suggestion. Since I have a Carbon Fiber hood and now the Syms wing with the CF middle section, the gold rims are kinda clashing with the car. Milo suggested taking some pics and seeing if you guys can photoshop and critique the future plans. I don't want to spend more dough on rims I really don't need. What do you guys think about powder coating the rims black like Milo did his car? Would you do flat black or gloss black? Please photoshop both for me if you don't mind and post the img's. I can't use any online hosting from work anymore so this will have to do. http://picasaweb.google.com/dcollins0917/SymsHotness Feel free to lighten up the pics as well if you want. Thanks.
Opened it in Explorer and I can see all the pics. I love the blacked out rims. Not digging the red lip ones. HATE the lowrider one! LOL Haha I may be a ricer but my car doesn't just 'look' fast. Wanna race? Bwahahahaha
I like the black, but think in would look better in a brighter black(not flat). Off topic, but you mentioned your Hawk HP+ dust bad. There worse than stock pads? I was going to get them because I heard they dust a lot less... I can't seem to get a solid review on pads. I want a replacement pad with similar performance and way less dust... I'm starting to think its not possible.
I agree.... I don't think a flat black would look very good. A semi-gloss would look great though... something more along the lines of matching your hoods' gloss. You could always rattle can those with different colors, then pressure wash it off once you decide which color you like best. Sonicboom.... the HP+ dust pretty badly. That's the reason I rattle-canned my stockers. I got tired of the dust, plus it looked soooo much better.
Yeah HP+ are track pads. They squeal a low speeds too. Dust VERY badly but it's either performance or not. Performance pads are gonna dust regardless. I was thinking of a matte black. It's in between flat and gloss black.
Don't want to hijack this thread but the pad mystery must be solved b4 I go nuts... I'm tired of washing my car, only to have to rims black 2 days later... grr.. \threadjack
Delette: I think a gloss black or a metallic charcoal would really work well with your car Good advice there
I'm really liking the gloss black as it blends with the hood well. However I've heard horror stories about powder coating rims and making them weak but then again Milo has his and pushing very good power at them and his rims are forged. I may spray paint them first and then later powder coat them when I can have the car for a while (ie when the STi longblock sitting at my house goes in).
Not sure if they have a semigloss for powdercoating but I did mine in gloss black and like it. BUT Clean them more often as if you let the dust sit you will have flat black before too long. Ask how I know...Yes mine are now flat black/ gloss black mix.
No time attack, thats played out worse than black wheels with a silver lip. Glossy black would look nice.
