Just realized I needed a journal. CHAPTER ONE After getting my 93 Legacy L Wagon slammed so bad I couldn't even part it out... I was in the market for a new car. Specifically, a new Subaru. My mom wanted me to get a Honda. FUCK THAT. My mom wanted me to get something with an A/T. FUCK THAT TOO. My dad and I are Subaru loyalists. We held out. So on the day that I was supposed to go grab a 94 Civic Hatch, I see an ad spring up on importatlanta. Subaru Outback Sport, $2250. I call Tony, who has had the car for a few months. 2 Days later I haul ass down to Columbus to take a look at the little guy. Boy was this car abused. Tony was a great owner who loved the car. But the second owner drove it across the country, rarely changed the oil, drove over shit, drove into shit, bought cheap parts, you name it. I purchased it for $2000, knowing full well most of its problems. A Check Engine Light, throwing not one, not two, but SEVEN codes. Brake Pads should have been replaced a few thousand miles ago. Needed an entire new rack and pinion, control arms, etc: the entire front steering assembly had to go. Most of the bulbs needed replacing. One week and $3500 later I was a Subaru owner once more. An Impreza owner. Oh yes indeed.
And I really want to drop this in: http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/pro...ucts_id=185&osCsid=vlraf6c3eeekcm15ka553uuki1
Oh hells yes, your wagon would be fucking tight with that shit dropped in it! What year is the OBS? Did you manage to get an OBD I?
Hey, weren't you interested in a rear disc conversion? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1371965http://
So what's the advantage of OBD2? PM me the answer so I don't have to keep getting sidetracked, haha Also, Thanks for looking out for me, SubiNoobi! Um...yeah. Chapter 2 coming soon. Been real busy.
Yep, I work over at the Dunwoody Place Starbucks off of Roswell Rd. That is indeed me. There's a red OBS who cruises around the area, too, but he never returns my waves
Chapter Two So after buying my car it sat in the shop while I went to NYC, getting new front brake rotors and pads and an entirely new steering assembly. I returned home from NYC, drove it around a bit, decided not to worry about the horribly grindy transmission, washed her off, and then got bit by the mod bug. First mod was a new rear sway bar, courtesy of Jeff (mckenzietj). Look how tiny my old one was, especially compared to the stock WRX bar! Then I dumped in a new head unit and some Kicker KS65 speakers, which pale in comparison to the currently installed Infinity speakers. Roof rack bothered me, so off it came:
Only other mod has been a new transmission and some new gauge faces, controlled by a self-destruct button. COMING SOONISH: New Rims, home-brewed CAI, better speakers, new seats.
Got pics without the roof rails? I'll 2nd the WRX sedan RSB as being the best cheap suspension mod for wagons.
Today I added the other fog light cover and replaced the fuel gauge. I learned today that the front bumper is more fucked up than I thought. Too bad.
3rd'ed. its a nice cheapo upgrade for us RS guys too! love the wagon...i have a feeling the forester rims are gonna look pretty killer.
Foresters fell through, possibly buying Andy's (JJang) rims... IF HE EMAILS ME THE PHOTOS LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD
Nope. Still looking for stock rims. THIS WEEKEND: Momo Cobra Shift Knob (thanks Sonny!) White Mirrors (thanks Bobby!) Some tweeters (thanks local car audio store!)
In honor of a good friend of mine from Maine who fits the description of this car... I dub thee, Molly. Besides - now the car is worthy of a name instead of a pun.
Minor crash today - gonna need a new hood, bumper/bumper beam, lights. Pics soon. Thankfully nobody was injured and both cars involved run just fine
Yep. I did indeed. A woman turned across two lanes of traffic and stopped in the middle of the road, blocking both lanes. I slowed down, but couldn't stop in time (wet roads, cheap brake pads/drum brakes). On the upside, I now have an excuse to put in: JDM Crystal Clear Lights/Clear Corners Koyo Radiator JDM RS Lightweight Bumper Beam C-West Front Bumper Syms Grille And, if I can get around to it, do my snorkusectomy and add some KYG Struts and (money permitting) RCE Yellow Springs.
I still haven't quite decided what I think of the C-West front bumper. I'd prefer the RS front bumper. EDIT: ...WHICH I JUST FOUND ON EBAY!!! This look right to you guys? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...viewitem=&item=360009393077&_trksid=p3907.m32
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal for the car and it looks like its coming along nicely! I love the gauges!
That ebay link isnt an 03 bumper, it looks like one for your year. Look at the flares on the side of the foglights.
The 1 you posted is the correct bumper. Whomever said its for an 03 is a retard. That's all 99-01 right there!
CURRENT MOD LINEUP PLANS: JDM STi v5 Front Bumper JDM STi v5 Lightweight Bumper Beam Alpine HU w/ Infinity Speakers in the rear Whiteline Flatout Springs KYG Struts Koyo Radiator STi Axelback Clear lights! Clear lights! Clear lights! Angel Eye fogs Syms Grille That'll all be within the next month, hopefully. Who wants to help?
