This is my 1st time ever getting a ticket and i kinda put it off untill the last minute. My court date is the 9th of jan, i was going 20 over so that will be 2 points. I really need to go to the driving class but i just dont have nights open. Does anyone know of any online classes that i can take at my own time and have it done before the 9th. How many points can someone under the age of 21 get before they take my licence?

If your worried about your driving record, I would probly get a lawyer to get it reduced if you can afford it. He got mine dropped to to no points....there is also nolow, but I would save that for something really bad.

at this point, to be completely honest. just pay the fine take the points and don't get pulled over again. the points will fall off after 2 years anyways.

its 3 to 5 years for most insurances

Honestly your best option is to get a lawyer

i had 10 speeding violations with allstate and my insurance never went up a penny. when i said 2 years, that means the points drop off your driving record. which has nothing to do with your insurance. that's just what the state has. and its an accumulation of 10 points if you're under the age of 21 and and accumulation of 15 points if you're 21 or older. if you reach those the state takes your right to drive a vehicle. i lost my license at one point and again, my insurance never changed a dime. but then again, that is all dependent on your insurance company. i know some people whose insurance has tripled or even dropped them with one ticket.

but still has nothing to do with your drivers license.

DO THIS!!! Go to the court date and go strait to the "solicitor" and negotiate with him a plead of guily to the charge, in return if he will be willing to give you a larger fine instead of points off your licence. It's worked in the past many times for freinds. I would much rather pay a larger fine once than over the next few years w/ the insurance co. No points=insurance co, in the dark.

The 4 points only take your license if it comes from one ticket. I believe you can either amass 10 or 12 points before you're 21. I don't think the online classes apply here in the happening state of GA. The lawyer cost something like $300 and you will still have to pay a fine.

For 2 points I would either find a defensive driving class to take at any location in GA over the next few days. Or at least pay for a class even if it is just after the court date and bring the receipt to court and talk to the solicitor saying that you're signed up for one and if he can cut you a deal. What time is it on Wednesday? If I'm not working I could back up and give you a hand guiding you around the room. I was confused as hell to what was going on. It's really easy to lose the opportunity to speak to the solicitor if you're not familiar with the proceedings. That happened to me when I got my first ticket and I still get pissed off about it to this day.

Also, insurance might not be as bad as you think mate.

Lol I completely forgot about being under 18, seems a while a go! Casey's 20 anyway so that won't matter.

if you go to a defensive driving school, it will only take a max of 7 points off, depending on how many you have. That and you can only take the school once every 5 years...provided you don't do anything to get any more points, that's fine....BUT, if something else DOES happen (and an accident can come with points, if my memory serves correct) then you won't be able to take the class for another 4 years.

with ALL the tickets I've ever had, my insurance has never increased a penny as well....

I heard that too Matt about how many times you can take defensive driving but when I spoke to the lawyer he said he's had some people take it damn near once a year. I think it can often be used as a bargaining tool.

Weird....Maybe it's you can take the class as much as you want, but you can only claim credit for it with the DMV once every 5 years. I remember the judge saying something about once every 5 years, but I dunno exactly what it was now... (it was ALMOST 5 years ago that I did it)

This here is your best bet...The solicitor (gov) wants your money and have virtually no association to the points other than if it is applicable then they are reported. My personal favorite is to take a tire calculator play with the values until your speedo is off by 7mph this will get you just under the 14mph over and it will not go on your record. Pay the fine and be done with it.

Oh and if I read correctly you have a clean driving record? If so that is great make that point very obvious that you want to maintain your perfect driving record and not have a blemish due to the fancy rims you purchased for the car that threw off the speedo.

    Good luck

Use www.blurofinsanity.com next time. They have a few good methods for getting out of speeding tickets without committing perjury. I am 1 for 1 with this method. The one I lost was at a backwoods state trooper court house. I had all the evidence thrown out, but the judge still convicted me based on the officers eye sight speed determination. I would have appealed it, but I was tired of spending time on it.
