So the yellow wrx was at the shop for some body damage, new front bumper, 2 new rims, fender and some other things. I talked to the shop on thursday and everything was done. It was going to detailed on friday and ready for pick up. Well i get a call from my dad saying i have som bad news! The guy handling my car and the dealership jumped in it and threw a rod through the block. So i get off work early and head up there. We talk to them and they dont want to pay. They say it wasn't there faught. Lol i told them it was a 2007 Sti block with less than 20000 miles on it. Didn't matter they still want to say something was wrong with my car when i brought it in. Sorry but no. It was a 22 year old kid that got in it. So Its wan't a test drive, more like a joy ride that went bad!

No. I'm in NC now. However i know that car well as I did the 6MT swap. Its tuned perfectly and is not past its limits.

Make sure to NOT BACK DOWN until they pay for repairs 100%.

Bill Heard? Yeah, you'll want a lawyer. A thrown rod means the guy probably over revved the engine, right?

  24. slowwrx

    slowwrx Supporting Member

More than likely...or he was sitting on the rev limiter listening to that cool bang pop backfire sound.

  25. johnswrx

    johnswrx Member

yeah i figured over revving or missed gear. He broke down on 85 South headed back to Union city. And then left my car sitting on the side of the road 2 hours.

yea I had a similar problem...not to that extent..had an XB get body work done...I get it back...car kept cutting off as soon as I left...can back as a bad MAF...they said it wasn't their fault..I said it was fine prior to drop off...wrote a letter stating their fault or not it was fine before and now its not. any professional business would take care of this problem to keep a positive reputation etc..needless to say they paid for it....Stand your ground and stay persistent!!!!

some "other things" they had to do to the car..did this require them to drive it??? curious why the car needed to be driven...how far from the dealership did he drive the car??? can't believe they left it on side of road...that's ridiculous, irresponsible and super unprofessinal

  28. johnswrx

    johnswrx Member

They drove it about 10 miles. a little londer than a normal test drive

yea 10 miles...little extreme....or so it seems to me...bunch of bs bro..hope u get it worked out soon!

Wait...they drove it 10 miles? What was it at the shop for? A whole new front end, just a little body work and paint?

Umm...yeah. You might want to get a lawyer involved pretty damn soon.

10miles... hopefully they let the car warm up before beating on it... which is doubtful. Get a lawyer, and also make sure when they send you the how we did survey you score them all zero's.

I was thinking exactly what Doug said. I bet it wasn't overrevving but romping the crap out of it on a cold engine!

Subaru's run really tight clearances from the factory, so a really cold aluminum block only makes things worst.

The worst thing you can do on a subaru motor is not wait for everything to come up to temp before going WOT

report them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau), as I'm sure they are members. Or at least tell them you are about to have your lawyer send a letter to the BBB on your behalf. They'll definitely take action then.

Sorry for the bad news, I personally would take all the advice here but call the lawyer at this time unless you have a personal friend as they simply suck your money out of you. I would maybe pay them 100 bucks to send a letter. But definitely report to BBB, contact the home office whether it be Bill Heards corportate headquarters or SOA if that is applicable or both. Gather all proof of purchase and maintainence records and go in there swinging and mention what your plans are (all of the above) and will go as far as to have a lawyer involved if needed. They WILL roll over and you may not even need to get a lawyer involved.
    Good Luck!

Wow, I live near the Union City exit. There more than enough road around ALL those dealerships to avoid the highway.

Also, that dealership has the WORST sales team, lol.

    Good luck....

^^I would draft exactly what you are gonna send to BBB and whomever else and show it to them. Remember if they feel damaged they will be less inclined to resolve as they have already been tarnished. No one knows better than me how it sucks to be without your car but rushing will only net bad results...You have time. Get all your ammunition, organize, draft letters, go in there fighting and do not take NO for an answer. If they give you the final no put everything into action.

No problem, I hate shit like this it boils my blood. Also search this site as there was a similar incedent involving a broken tranny IIRC and they tried but in the end they paid. Bottom line is went in running and died in the hands of an inexperienced employee going for a joy ride. You will WIN this, just a matter of how much you gonna spend to get that result.

was that you on the side of 85 north on friday just south of Union City

yeah i guess it was. did you see him driving it or was it just sitting on the side of the road. i wish you would have caught him getting on it. that would have been amazing. But yeah i will go through any lengths to get them to fix it. I will spend more money than the block is worth if i have to. just to prove a point! lol, when i took the car up there the first time to start the work the guy was bragging about how he had a neon srt4............ maybe he just thought he could handle my car. i guess he was wrong.

So you took the car to Bill Heard for a paint job and they took the car out for a spin and blew the motor?
It wasn't your buddy that took it out was it?
Why would they take it out after painting it...trying to give it a cool paint effect?
This really sucks man, I hope everything comes out in your favor

yeah it wasn't my buddy that took it out for a test drive. I was a guy in the office, like an adjuster. When the car was taken up there he was the one handling it. And My buddy was to paint the car. The shop manager was even told we didn't want this young guy that ended up throwing the rod even fooling with my car.
