I need new pads front and rear....and im looking at two sets.

The axis ultimates, or the Hawk HPS.

Which will better suit me for daily driving? Im on a budget right now, so the axis's price is appealing. But if they are total crap then ill squeeze in the hawks.

    Any help is appreciated!

running hawk HPS on the street, very mild amount of dust. Keep this pad for STREET ONLY.

If you are okay with brake dusts, go with axxis ultimate.

how much do the carbotechs run? I found a deal on some hawk hps so i might just order those. Also, i have slotted rotors, can i have them turned/resurfed? where would i have that done?

Yea go with HPS. For street use, they are great! There is some dust but not bad at all and they haven't squeaked at me once.

    slotted/drilled rotors cannot be turned.

It's only a light sanding of the surface to get the old pad material off of the rotor...If you were to sand enough material off a set of slotted rotors to where they were not slotted anymore, the rotor would definately be thinner than what I would consider to be safe enough to continue using.

Werd. I ran axxis ultimates and there was no reason to ever clean my wheels. It would only take one 20 minute drive after a car wash and the fronts would be coated with dust again.

I am about to get a set of HPS due to all the great reviews I have read about them. Although,,,,,,,,,,, I have EBC Green Stuff pads on my autox/street miata and they are absolutely amazing brake pads with little dust (tons and tons and tons of bite and just when you think they are to hot to stop even a barbie jeep, there is more bite!). The only downside is that they are Lime Green. If they were black, I would be buying EBC's instead of HPS..

I found the HPS front and rear on Amazon for about 190.00 shipped, anyone know of any better deals for a STi?

Honestly I hate the hawks. You got most of the braking power just by barely touching the pedal. It's hard to keep your braking linear and smooth. You'll find that there's a lot of head bobbing because you tap the brake pedal and your car comes to a screeching halt. The carbotechs have been a lot more graceful in delivery.
