With the success of the HTA35R that FP has had for the Evos they have teamed up with AMS to make a HTAGreen. All the new Greens are bigger and better after testing is done. The Green is normally a 49 lb/min wheel turbo. The new Green that I call the HTAGreen will now be a 57 lb/min turbo yet spool as fast or faster than the original Green and it comes standard with the 8cm exhaust housing. That's a 8 lb/min wheel jump which is roughly 60-80 more hp. It spooled so fast in testing that they had to incorporate anti-surge ports on it. AMS is slated to install and test this new turbo on their 2007 STi in the next 4-6 weeks. I'm VERY VERY interested in this. 450+ hp EASILY attained with crazy spool. Stay tuned.... Here's some quotes from Robert Young at FP.... Click link for pic of the new Green.
there is no magic turbo. A bigger compressor(57lb/min) side with the same sized exhaust turbine is not going to result MUCH faster spool than a smaller compressor side (49lb/min). I would be impressed if the 57lb/min spooled matched up to a 49/min, let alone having a lower boost threshold. That is a given no matter how much you manipulate the shape and size of the exducer and inducer fins on the compressor wheel. I fail to see the correlation between spool speed and anti-surge ports...however I will shut up once marketed results are repeated by a customer
Go over to evolutionm.net and read up on what the HTA35R turbo did for the Evo. It's a modified GT35R that spools faster and makes way more power. FP has noticed faster spool on their systems between the old Green and the new one. AMS has sent their Green back to get modified for testing. Hopefully results will be in around 4-6 weeks.
One of FP's posts on nasioc said that TGV deletes and a 3" inlet were mandatory for this turbo, I wonder how much power that adds into the equation before even figuring in the new wheel.
TGV delete's is a big arguement. Some see gains some don't. I think it really isn't a HP gain but more of a spool gain since there is no restriction. 3" will also increase the spool.
FP and AMS are working on it. FP already has a dyno sheet from Friday of the normal Green. They are upgrading that same Green to the HTA and will slap it on and do a straight up test with minor tuning adjustments...fuel is gonna have to be trimmed regardless.
Holy tq batman. This is on the old Green....imagine one that spools better and makes more power. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20839124#post20839124
Siegel/Doug.....do you guys normally get that kind of tq from a Green? I know SS said he has done 450 hp on the Green with methanol but I didn't think of asking about the tq.
I have serious doubts on that. Numbers seem LARGELY inflated. Especially since several similarly prepared cars on C16 and pump/meth made less than that in HP, and a LOT less in TQ....at similar boost levels (aka some more, and some less)
NO. Most I've seen from a Green was 452hp/460~470tq (I'm thinking it was 471tq) at the wheels. That was with... 2004 STI, stock engine internals, stock header EWG 3inch FP Green, 7cm exhaust custom 3inch TBE 50/50 Meth/water injection Ecutek w/AVCR for boost WJM Super-JDM TGV Deletes Perrin FMIC Perrin Big MAF Perrin 3inch inlet pipe (in RED for the extra HP!) Doug tuned it.
Thats Dynoflash though, every single dyno they post up is complete bullshit. I guess its good to see spool characteristics but their numbers are way higher than anything anyone else gets on any different dyno. Anyways whats up with the tune, peak HP is so low and just drops as the engine gets closer to redline? All I can personally say from my experience is that Genya's car with FP green and meth and him driving is the fastest subaru I've ever been in. I'll see if I can find his dyno sheet somewhere in the archives. This was on C16. I think he made more power later on with pump+meth but I'm too lazy to search for that printout.
AND he doesnt have the STi anymore...:wtc: At least is seems to be in good hands...the car appeared at SOG months back and I installed a PS pump and fixed the horn. I gave the new owner the 25cent tour of the car and the complete run down of the history that I knew of it...I worked on it a bunch at Top Speed.
Yeah DynoFlash is pure crap as I found out later in that thread. Awaiting AMS to test it out....another 4 weeks or so.
