I am happy with my current VF39 setup (2.5 block), but i wanna get something lil bigger in near future. I want realiable street 370-400whp (93 pump gas) and had my mind set on FP Green, may be red, but looking at others too Blouch 18g (about 300 cheaper...than green) & 20g (about 150 cheaper than green). Don't really know too many people running any of those setups. Don't really want laggy setup for daily, but i know i'll have to sacrifice it a bit if i want more power. Something that will still be fun driving everyday and when called upon provide a good punch. Or y'all might recommend others in the same range?
i know my buddy jason is running a hybrid 2.5 with an 18g. it's not tuned yet but i'd bet it'll do about 350 with out meth. it's not very laggy either...it's no td04 but it's a blast. I would think a 20g would hit the numbers you want but with more lag.
I thought there were issues with your engine. You should purchase a proper EMS and dump the UTEC before you change anything else.
Tune wise...yea car does have issues new turbo will be on with new EM not UTEC....more than likely AP, but if possible i'll do standalone. And other complimenting parts to support the new turbo. I know about EM...now tell me about turbos :grr:
if you go standalone (motec, hydra, etc) you will not pass emissions. save your money and get an APv2
I doubt it will make 350hp. More like 300 hp with 320ish tq. The 2.5L doesn't tend to increase the hp by much....just makes the tq a LOT better. If you want 400 on pump gas I would wait and see how the new HTA Green turbo fares. FP is releasing it soon and it went from a 49lb wheel to a 57lb wheel yet it spools faster supposedly.
+11ty. If the mods delete my post I will go ape shit on someone. I am CONFIRMING that a standalone WILL NOT PASS OBD2 emissions standards and that going with the APv2 would be best.
This thread is about turbos not engine management. Quit thread jacking. If the OP wanted opinions on EM he would have titled the thread "Thinking about engine management". I am tired of cleaning up useless posts! If anyone posts about engine management again they will spend the next 24 hours without wrxatlanta.
I'd go for a Green, if you want to maintain top end get one with the 8cm^2 hot side and 3" inlet. Should get you around 350-360whp with stockish spool. Deadbolt also offers many great bolt-on turbos including the Superzilla series (49lb, 55lb, 65lb, etc) with varying wheel combinations for however much power you need. (www.deadboltspeed.com)
Everyone has been telling USDD to get proper EM since he got the car. I will not believe his claims to get proper EM until I see it with my own two eyes.
It's because the pics and posts have nothing to do with the topic. This is WRXAtlanta not Nasioc. Exactly. Also keep in mind that the new Green will come standard with the 8cm^2 hotside and 3" inlet Also are you EWG'd? If not that would help a lot too.
Wait a second...what we are doing here is not what NASIOC would do. Nasioc would simply flame away at how dumb this or that turbo is and that you should get an Axis stage 50 engine that has low oil pressure and dont get a hydra cuz it'll hydrolock your engine.
so wait...you are wanting to get a new turbo now? Didn't you post up a few weeks ago about how a tuner charged you "too much" and you didnt have the money to fix it? So now youre gonna drop money on a turbo, I guess new engine management, and a new tune (all of which you said you couldn't afford the other day hence the whining about someone "screwing you over") Sounds brilliant to me...
/pats princes.....now now, calm down. It'll be alright. Someone get him his daily meds. On the topic, did Will say he had an 06 tranny? If so, then this thread also interests me as I may want to go in the high 300s this year later. I was thinking 20g with a meth/water 50/50 solution? How far will that go?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly. Yes, 06 sti transmission. Go 20G and Meth w/M10 nozzle. You will need a FMIC and other supporting mods to get to the "high 300s" otherwise...a stock or ebay TMIC should get you in the 340 range w/meth IIRC.
I said in future and didn't put a exact date on it. Should be common sense to understand that if i don't have money for a EM rite now then i don't have money for new turbo, EM, tune either. Since my car needs a tune and EM...it also makes sense to purchase a new turbo at the time. I simply put up a thread to see where i should point my car for future and know exactly what i want. Instead of running/rushing around later when i have the money to purchase new parts and end up with something i don't like. aka researching. Sounds brilliant now? and y'all say you are trying to be different than NASIOC and other flaming Forums. Rite on topic mod
