up at sog! went up there to get some trans fluid and as i was coming up a truck pulled up with 4 08 sti's! Two WRB's, one white, and a gunmetal one. They unloaded the white and gunmetal one, and then quickly pulled them around back.

Must say they look awesome in person...much better than in pics. But 40k sticker price, and a guy said a 5k markup. so 45k? hmmmmm :pssh:

sorry no pics...they literally hid them soon as they pulled them out lol.

I went by there at lunch and saw the white and gray one. They look alright. They told me that they sold the first one at sticker, and intended on selling the others at sticker too.

They were going through PDI to be put out on the lot.

Dealers have to do something to make money.

    Hince the nickname 'stealerships'

    Sad but true.

When the STi Limited came out, pretty much every dealer marked those up 10k above MSRP. SOG got away with selling 3 like that.

    I second that. $45K could get you an E39 M5, E46 M3......etc,.

Or the 1500 pinstripe they used to put on them... or protection package for another 500... what a rip.

Call Lewis at Troncalli he has always given me th best prices on subaru's hands down.

I actually just now saw the same car. I drove the 20 mins there just out of sheer curiosity. I peeked over the fence, in a manner of speaking, and I think all of them except the white one are sold. The gunmetal one is absolute sex.

I agree 45k is a little steep, but subaru is trying to target the BMW crowd. Honestly it looks like something you'd see parked in a garage next to an Audi or a BMW. Also, it's mean as hell in person. NOTHING like a mazda....which is also true for the wrx.

    Douchnozzles.

That's the best word ever! Ha. I will use it all day.

Back on topic, I do agree that 45K is quite steep. Is this an SOG markup? Are other dealers doing it too? I guess if Subaru wants to play with the big boy toys, they're going to make us all pay big boy prices. Regardless, they'll sell a ton of them, I'm sure.

I'm sure all the dealers are doing it.

I'm also sure that there's at least one (nice for the consumer, bad for other dealer's $profits) selling the STi's at or below invoice just to move units.

I have talked to a bunch of different dealers. So far all have said they are selling them at invoice. SOG is the only one I have heard of doing any type of markup.

The new Evo's are being marked up as well. There's a dealer on ebay taking pre-production orders for $48K.

I was just at SOG for an issue with my left rear tire (I thought it was leaking from my cybernetic-ultratechnoawesomemakesalightcomeonwhenthetireisflatandis120dollarstoreplace valve), and while they were looking at it I was talking to Neal, and he said they aren't marking them up, but they won't be exactly working with people on the price for awhile, either. They sticker for right around 40,000, and if you're not willing to pay that for next few months, GTFO. Fair enough. I sat in one, and it's wonderful. It feels much, much more upmarket to me than the old STi. Less boy racer, more international player.

The seats are awesome, the trim is a great upgrade over my car (which isn't too shabby to begin with) and the overall fit and finish seemed amazing. The shifter is ungodly tall though. And the throws seemed longish. Kartboy FTW!!

Yeah. Cool car for $25-$30K, but for $40K, I am looking at a new 335 or used Porsche.

Being on a budget I could never spend 40K on a car. I would however spend about $14-18K on a used wrx or sti put about 5-8k worth of mods on it and a spank the doors off that 40-45k STI!

$40k? lol, no thanks, the EVO X GSR starts at $33k and IMO looks better....but for that money, I agree....there are more upscale cars to choose from.
