So even today when the weather is not cold at all, my turbo will start to surge or spike after 8lbs of boost. (i'm tunned for 20) After 3k rpms and past 7 or 8 lbs, the turbo will go back and forth about 5 to 10 lbs depending on how hard i'm pressing the throttle. I thought it was just the cold weather but it has been happening a lot more than usual. It does this in second gear and up (haven't tried first yet but i'll assume it won't do it in first) WHAT DO DO? :wtc:
I had a similar situation and cured it w/a manual boost controller. Be careful though, I have a lot of experience w/trying to blow my engine
I was kinda having the same problem, I'm going to change my plugs, have them just haven't had time to put them in, but my car only does it above 18.5 lbs....I would just run a little less boost until you can confirm the problem...have SS take a look at it...
Did we ever do a final tune on your car??? For some reason I don't remember what your car is running on right now? Siegel
We did not. We left it how it was after the torn inlet hose. stock turbo, 3inch exhaust with a high flow cat, blitz nur-spec touring cat back. cold air intake, cat less up-pipe. I believe we tuned during august.
I can't really remember if you did do the final tune. I think you did sit in the car for 30 minutes after I came back with the new inlet (a week and a half later).
110,000ish I changed my oil today and while the hood was up I looked around for vacuums leaks... sure enough there was a tear on a hose (with a zip tie!). The vacuum line that has the restrictor pill in it coming out from the top front of the turbo had a slight tear on it. I had enough line to cut off where the tear was and slide it back on with a new zip tie. Test drove the car and did not spike/surge. Everything runs great now.
I just learned that one of my fog lights don't work >_< I bought a new bulb at autozone today and will probably put it in on wed. and also do a tranny fluid change with AMS oil.
