I am new so forgive me if i broke the rules by starting a thread as i know some sites frown highly on it.... anyone seen anything on the diesel engine subaru is coming out with, i saw something about it in a diesel truck magazine but i cant seem to find it again... i heard something like 400 foot pounds of torque.... anybody know anything?
Ha, we don't frown on a whole hell of a lot here...certainly not new members actually using the forum. And no I haven't heard of this mystery engine. Got a link or anything?
there really doesn't seem to be much info out about it... i'm not sure if thats because subaru is keeping most of it under wraps or if its just that hard to find....

from the look of it in that video they have the same piston design that bmw is using in their diesel motors in europe... they have incorporated a combustion like compartment in the top of the piston to make the engine more efficient...pretty damn sweet i think
Looks like they are only coming out in Europe for now. Offered in the Outback, Legacy and Forester. -Nasioc Link-
im sure it would be like any other diesel.... you could convert it to run on bio diesel.... i can see it now.... french fry smelling subaru's!
those aren't spark plugs, there the injectors. Diesel engines inject fuel right before top dead center, as soon as they inject the diesel it ignites. Alot like how a normal gas motor would when the spark plug fires off.
I would've owned a diesel car years ago if there were any (besides VW's obviously). Literally, about all you can find now, are heavy diesel trucks and one Jeep, the Liberty (besides VW's obviously).
