    Hey Guys.

I just installed my Hawk HP+ pads and notice they are wearing two lines in one of my rotors. I dont think this is part of the normal wear in.

    Any one have an idea?

I read some places it might be my shim wearing in the rotor but my front one looks ok from what i see.
I wont be able to work on them until Friday. So i will not know much more until then.

I would think something got stuck in there when you put them on. Nothing should be on the surface of either the pad or the rotor when you install the pads. I can't imagine anything in the pad or the assembly that would cause that...but it's not good.

Which rotor (s) is it happening to?

nope. that's normal for the HP+ pads. you'll see lines come and go from time to time. Especially with a lot of hard use, such as a track day. mine come and go in the middle of the rotor area. I'd love to run a less aggressive pad, but everything else just sucks! If you get loud squealing, the $.99 Brake Quiet goo works very well.

    interesting

it sounded like there was a groove being created in the rotor, not just a line, but i read into it too much.

well, yeah, it's kinda a groove... a shallow groove. if it gets deep I'd worry, but mine do that. it's almost like there are rocks in the pad compound and as it wears the lines come and go.

Unless it is a deep grove I would not worry...assuming it is just a discolored "line" it should be fine.

    HP+ FTW!!!

All automotive stores probably. My local autozone sells it at the register. It's a little bag thing... You'll need one pack per side.

And I didn't mind the noise at first, but it got old after 8K...

Did you properly "bed" the pads in?

What also works very well is Honda's M77 Assembly Paste. It is very pricey at about $15 a bottle online or $25 a bottle at your local Honda Parts counter. A bottle will last you 5+ years and I have never had any squelling issues with any of my pads.

  14. also buying those little packs is a huge ripoff i work at advance and those tiny packs are 1 dollar but the big nice bottles are only 3

No kidding, but I've been unable to find it in a larger size!
