Well not MY apartment, but the building....below us we think someone tried to start a fire. Smelt a slight burning smell around 4:30....and i guess our neighbors did too because they called the Fire Dept. Kinda scary and definitely not the best thing to wake up too....kinda cool watching the firefighters hack down walls and stuff though. hnoes:
I hope you aren't out of a place to live. A portion of my friends building burned down, and they closed the entire building down for 8 months while they fixed the one portion of it. He had to live with his girlfriend in her apartment the entire time. Luckily he had insurance, which covered the monthly payments until he was able to live there again.
I cannot recommend renters insurnace enough. 6 years ago when we were in an apartment - we went for a quick 1 hour grocery run. When we came back our apartment was broken into. We were robbed blind. They were probably watching our apartment and knew we were gone
update! About 45 minutes before i posted me and my gf woke up and our apt was full of smoke....the fire dept had arrived and were below us hacking away....apparently someone tried to start a fire by stuffing some pinestraw or something in the wall and lighting it. They believe that it was obviously done intentionally and was directed towards our neighbor downstairs. Thankfully the fire did not spread. One of the guys said if it had not been for the vinyl siding it would've spread very quickly. We do have renters insurance. Im glad everything is ok, just kinda scary that someone did that. And another thing thats kinda cool is another thing that woke us was our cat. He was freaking out, definitely knew something was wrong!
I'd say it's probably time to move, stuff like that usually doesn't happen just once from my experiences. But again, I'm glad everything is okay...
Lenard - glad you guys are ok! Now you can rightly turn up your stereo with this song... "We didn't start the fire...."
yeah, same thing is running through my head right now :squint: thanks David! And thanks everyone else for the concern!
yeah thats the same thing we said when looking for an apartment...i thought these were pretty nice, but crazy people are everywhere!!! We need a house
Houses are not that much more secure. Though, you do decrease your chances as the density of people living in the area decreases. This guy strolled into our open garage at noontime. My wife was home by her self. I'm glad he didn't want anymore than a garden tool (which I purchased less than a week before it was taken). If he had a gun and had other intents it could have been much more. So a blower lost was a bargain. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7175529716480799172&hl=en
