The worst part was, it wasn't even the racers that crashed. Just some other guy driving down the road ran through all the pedestrians. Nice..
I read in another report that this happened about 3:40am...WTF are you doing with your child and 61 y/o father at a street race at 3:40am!?!?!? This is just sad, for the people killed and for what it says about the "average American"...
Maybe I'm being dense here, but if it's dark and there's smoke which makes it hard for you to see, you may want to slow down instead of just plowing on through. Not saying that what was going on was right, but if your vision is impaired for whatever reason, slow down.
^^^ I hear ya! That is rediculous! And at 3:40 in the morning, this driver is either sleepy or impaired, not blaming the driver though. ???? The whole thing is crazy and kinda odd. Could be a conspiracy to enable new laws to pass; watch for the sneak attacks. :hsugh::hsugh:
The driver of the car going thru the smoke must have been influenced by this KEY movie: You know...the scene near the end where 'the big one' blocks up the track and Cole is told to go on thru the smoke.
Very Tragic and truly something that could have been avoided. Right here in the same state that I was raised...different city though...I am still wondering why a 61 y/o man was out there watching.... Mark
Thing is, it has nothing to do with age. You'd figure that once people get to a certain age they are more responsible. However, I could probably very easily find someone that age or older who would attend a street race. In addition, it seems as though this "event" was common place in the community and a lot of people knew about it, so there's nothing to say that it didn't become somewhat of a "family event" for particular individuals.
I used to deleiver parts on that road all day long when I was in college up there in Maryland. There is nothing on that road to begin with 20 miles north is DC. 10 miles south is a naval base and some po-dunk towns in between. That road has been used as a local drag way since my dad way 16 so 50%-50% blame for fast and the furious and other movies but 50% for stupidity because MIR a huge huge drag strip (as seen on PINKS, NOPI, NHRA...ect.) that cost $10 to run all night any night...all in all tragic but avoidable...my 2ct.
I am totally aware of that...I just found it very odd for these people to be out there at 3 AM!!!. It just is very upsetting because people will not learn from this...they will just continue to be ignoramuses... Mark
I went to Frostburg State and grad. on the extended 5 1/2 year plan. My dads familys from Baltimore and I lived in waldorf for most of highschool and college....and you sir are correct they will not learn from this...complete ignorance
