I wanted to see what type of plugs are the best kind for daily and sometimes performance. Btw, are they hard to change and how often should they be changed? thanks!
wow, that's a lot of spark plugs every 6-7K miles:eek3: seems like overkill to me if you had 100,000 miles on a car you would have to change the plugs over 16 times........it's not a weed whacker
Copper plugs should be changed more often, like every 10k miles...but every other oil change is a little bit excessive.
Denso one step colder FTW. Here is the link. http://www.sakarimotorsports.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=59
well theres a lot of review. I know at Autozone there isn't a variety of plugs for that vehicle. but I did hear that napa carried some good ones.
whose running copper, and whose running platinum or iridium? does iridium really conduct as well as copper, but last longer?
i had always heard one step colder's weren't necessary unless you were running higher boost. and otherwise coppers were the best option
Copper is BEST for performance but their life is not very long. Recommend 30k change interval on NORMAL street cars. However, under boosted applications, 15k MINIMUM recommended service interval. Every OTHER oil change is actually best. For racing applications..change them when you change the oil...which is like, after every event. Plat/Iridium has much LESS performance vs copper when new, however, the Plat/Irid plugs have a much much MUCH longer life. 100k miles on N/A cars. 60k on turbo cars and higher performing N/A cars. Again, under normal street use. On performance oriented SUBARUs, 15k~30k intervals depending on setup and driving style. At $45 a set, I'll pass on the Plat/Irid. At $5~$10 a set....I'll take coppers.
Stock is platinum. Failures come from installer error. I've only busted one plug...and that one was on its way out anyhow.
stock on my 06 was iridium, we did a cross-reference on the plug at the store when we pulled one of them out
well, I take that back. The 2.5 turbo and the 2nd gen EZ30D are IR. The WRX, EJ25D and the EJ253 VVL is plat. Either way...copper changed often is best for performance.
NGK copper one step colder plugs are what I've always run. Should the gap be changed for modified cars?
