Does anyone know wut kind of short ram air intakes will clear Injens type of FMIC? KN Typhoon seems to be too big and in the way to clear the piping for the fmic. Or am i just misled and only CAI's the way to go for FMIC? I've heard that CAI's are bad for rainy places. and im tryin to stay away from CAI's since the filter is placed right behind the passenger fog lights and looks easy accessible for water.
well from what i've seen, a 65mm Injen CAI will fit on a WBR FMIC. But a Typhoon wont fit cuz of the big fat cone filter being in the way of the WBR FMIC pipings near the fender area.
I would try to find a different cone. They make tons of those. Then you don't have to buy a new intake plus the $$$ for an Injen FMIC. I have blown a motor with hydrolocking b/c of a CAI and flooded ATL streets. It sucks. I don't think I will ever own another CAI.
Both TurboXs and Cobb SF intakes/filters will fit with an FMIC. I've used both. Also K&N makes a smaller diameter cone filter for that type of setup, but I don't have a part number for you..
Yea it doesnt get all that great here in Valdosta especially in the slow lanes, the water likes to pile up and the slow drivers end up being in the fast lane. I was thinkin CAI and somehow mod a plate 45 degrees behind the fog light with about 2-3 inches cleared from the underbody panels for air flow. the plate would act as a splash protector and i'd somehow try and figure out a way to get better water drainage in the wheel well. I was thinkin of the AEM CAI where its interchangeable to a SRI and just switch over when it gets REALLY bad with rain.
