This is probably the wrong forum, but I couldnt find a more relevant one... Recently Ive had an issue that I havent experienced in over a year...when i fully depress my clutch and twist the key to start my car, sometimes the car doesnt turn over. No click, nothing. Ive figured out that the issue is with the clutch pedal. I am assuming there is some mechanism/switch that tells the ignition/ecu/whatever that the clutch pedal is all the way in therefore allowing you to start the car. If I kick (not abusively, but firmly) the clutch pedal in a couple times then it will start fine. I only experienced this a few times over a year ago when the temp was near freezing...not the case yesterday when I had the issue twice. Anyone else experienced this before? Any ideas?
yep, there's a switch alright. it's wired into a starter interlock, and is located on the firewall in the cabin. I'll put up a scan of the service manual.
I didnt feel like loading up alldata to grab it, so I just loaded the pdf with adobe. then it was being gay and I couldnt export to png (password protected) and my PDF password finder wasnt working, so screenshot it was! I run utorrent 24/7. neoticker and esignal usually 24/7 also for watching some markets
I had to replace the my clutch switches as well. My car had the same symptoms. There are two switches, you can replace them both like i did, or take them both out and test them with an ohm meter.
hasnt done it once since i posted the thread...so maybe 5 times in two years. If it acts up one more time Im all over it. thanks for asking though!
Mine was sparadic also. One day it was cold and rainy and it took about 15 minutes before it would start.
