"file i386 ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. the error code is 16" This is generated during a windows reinstall via brand new dell reinstall cd for xp. I realize this generally refers to corrupted registry. I have run tests on all hardware pieces via Dell's bootable testing software. Both drives, video and system memory passed all tests. So what the hell is the issue?
Not really an option. I had dell send me a new install cd, that's all I have here I cannot find much info on what error code 16 is, most results are for 7 which indicates faulty memory. I will run the windows memory diagnostic tonight anyways to make sure this isnt the problem.
if you have two sticks of memory, take one stick out and boost it that way, then try to boot with another stick software diagnostic tests for hardware are useless at best if not confusing
it does this WHILE reinstalling windows? if so some kind of hardware is borked. I wouldn't trust the dell hardware diagnostics.
anyways, bad memory stick. had fun troubleshooting all 4 of them thanks to nicad for keeping me company haha
