I think this should be the right place for this and I didn't see one of these threads when I searched and I just felt like sharing. Here's the paint code that SoFla Motorsports used on my Spec C roof vent which turned out to be a perfect match. IF you didn't know, all other blue Subies use a VERY different color of blue. I know this because I did a trunk swap with a guy who had an 03 and it was absolutely horrible. 828J - HS Fast Blue - 42.3 4530S - Flop Control Agent - 52.3 819J - Fine Bright Aluminum - 53.4 846J - Yellow Orange - 53.6 1004S - Blue Pearl - 60.6 1007S - Violet Pearl - 64.1 150K - B/C Balancer - 181.4 175K - Binder - 219.8 The Dupont phone number is: 1-800-338-7668 Ask Dupont if you have questions, that's my recommendation, because in all honesty I don't have the answers for questions regarding this stuff. What I do know is you will probabably have to add a little bit of silver but other than that the paint matched perfectly and props to SoFla for hooking it up.
Did you buy your vent used? Mine came prepainted, color matched to WRB and was a perfect match. When are you installing it?
It's blue pearl metallic or some crap like that. Trust me, the WRB doesn't even come close to matching 06-07 WRX blue. Yeah, I'm in town and definitely want to drink a few beers and cut my frikin roof up! Lol, but pEd man, I know we could get it right if we put our minds to it. I did have to get it painted, and it was a process just like getting my trunk and spoiler painted was. It's really, really NOT world rally blue. Trust me.
I guess you of all people should know right where to cut, so yeah cool. If I don't just get somebody to install it for me. I'm really just wantin to get it done but of course it would be rewarding to do DIY it.
Whatever you decide, good luck. Professional installation cost me about $100 from a sunroof guy, but if you want to do it yourself, by all means go for it. I was afraid to cut into my roof myself, being that the car was pretty much brand new when I got the vent, but after watching the guy do the install, it looked incredibly easy, or at least he made it seem that way.
Cool, cool. Honestly I think the only thing I'm afraid of, other than cutting it wrong, is denting the roof. I mean you'd be up there working and it seems like it'd be so easy to screw up and lean on the roof thus denting it.... maybe I'm paranoid. Sadly the sunroof people I've talked to so far have been completely clueless or unwilling to do eet.
I would be intrested in seeing this done and can lend a hand...seeing that I want to do this someday!!!
Well, you know. I'll just start a thread! Nah, just playin.... but it looks like right now we have: 420, pEd and FACE on board so how can I not want to do it? We just gotta figure out when's good for you guys because really, I'm on leave and I'm pretty much down for whatever. We could even do a write up with pics maybe... Who knows?
Awesome. Lemme see if I can get pEd and 420 in on it some day this week, or weekend or whatever. That would rock!
