Anyone wanna help install it? just a simple straight forward (HA!) install...hopefully it will take about 30 minutes at most to install. I'd like to do it sometime this week. anyone?
oh nice. I hadn't looked at new alpines in a while. I'll help if you don't have it in by thurs/friday
Is that the digital music only player? Basically no CD/DVD drive just hooks up to your ipod? I would put it in for ya if ya lived closer to me. I use to install car stereos in a former life.
I got the floor model for $240. retail *snicker* is $399 yes it is....I hardly listen to cd's any more and have more music on my ipod anyway. so...... oh yeah...I do work in Tucker
and I do live close to Tucker. Riding tonight, Dinner with the In-Laws Tuesday, Riding Wednesday....So Thursday would be the earliest I could help ya with it. Where in Tucker do you work? It honestly would take you all of 15-20 minutes to put it in as long as it is just the headunit and it is a straight up swap. You had a harness on your old radio, right? Let me know if you want me to do it for ya on Thursday.
Thanks! I'm at the corner of Lavista and Lawrenceville....well, sorta. I work in the N Royal Atlanta Business Park. Thursday would be good. Unfortunately, the 2 harnesses are different JUST enough that one will not work with the other head unit so, it looks like we'll have to cut the wires and re-crimp just about everything.
What time do you get off work? I know where you are. I am actually pretty close to Lavista and 285. Heck, we could do it in a parking lot if you didn't want to drive to my house. Humm...wait a minute...Never worked on a 99 Suby. Do you know how to get the radio out? I am sure I could figure it out just would be much easier if you knew how to get it out.
I had it out on Saturday. Takes about 3 minutes to take the dash apart I get off around 5 or so. I don't mind driving to your house. I'd rather do it there than in a parking lot I'd that's cool with you.
 I knew you were gonna say something.....he's 5 minutes from my office. besides, we're only rock band buddies
I need to find a way to hook up alpine to the iPod... nice stero by the way, where do park at night again if you want to part it out, $19.99 is my best offer
If you have a newer Alpine, You can get either a cable or maybe an adaptor box. Can run you $20-$100 depending on what model you have.
Radio [---xxx---] Car Harness Plug You should be able to reuse your harness plug that your old radio used to plug into your chassis harness, unless you were a slacker and just cut off the plug and crimped all the wires together. Eddie will do you right!
the previous install was just cut and crimped....and that was from hi-fi buys! We (Eddie) did the same thing yesterday. It sounds sooo much better, but then again it should since it's digital.
All Alpine's with a CD-Changer port are capable of inputting MP3 Players. Get one of These and one of These There is a different cable made especially for ipods but unless your head unit has special support for it you might as well make it generic 3mm input imo
I suggested that next radio he get the reverse ad forward harness since his factory wires are getting a little short. Glad to hear you are enjoying your radio!
I had one in my FSXT for a while. It's a very nice unit but you may want to get an accessory remote off ebay to make it a little easier to use.
