has any one tried this on here?? Thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1438419 How it works: http://tinywrex.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/launch-control-logic-how-it-works/ Patch: http://tinywrex.wordpress.com/2008/01/31/launch-control-available-on-all-16bit-subaru-ecus/ Others: http://tinywrex.wordpress.com/
I would be extremely cautious if doing this to an 02-03 WRX with stock tranny. I bet within 5 or so tries, you are going to break the transmission.
I might give this a whirl next time I retune the car. Here's another +1 for openecu considering that APv2 was the only way short of a full blown standalone to get it.
but this can also be programed in map done by AP lol. I am prlby gonna IM you to get some more light shinned on me about OpenECU.
He has 6MT yo!!! But yes, pretty much any 5MT car should forget about this and walk away. Its easy. But making the stock ECU do it by reverse engineering is the hard part. Even my Fisher Price ECU had launch control on it when i had it in the RX. It was not a fuel cut algorithm tho, it was timing based. It was WAY better than the AP and AEM.
I have my ecu patched with it. I can't wait to get my car to the strip and try it out now that I have decided on a tranny.
i shall be paying you a visit and shcool me on this . That's after i get the car retuned lol. Check PM i have a question.
hey bro you know what to do to patch mine? I wanna break some axels. -side note-Do you need my 5mt shifter w/linkage and ft endlinks still?-
haha got into the VIP line. on a serious note there is supposedly a beta map for DBC cars by cobb. *runs to look for link* well it is on cobb forums somewhere but I cannot seem to find it.
would this work with AP V1 if so how do iget this LC on my list of maps someone help thanx i yeah i got an 04 sti this would work right?
google ECUedit, enginuity, or ecuflash. Each EM has a message board and fairly supportive communities for those of you interested in the OpenECU EM realm. Lots of walkthroughs on pulling roms and reflashing them. Cue WRXatl disclaimer that whatever you do to your car is your responsibility and you really can screw up your ECU if you do something wrong. Hell Siegel's even anal about having his cell-phone outside the car while reflashing due to any latent radioactivity or static electricity that could come from it.
Dunno man, I'm not sure how AP reacts to custom non-Cobb reflashes. You'd have to talk to one of the tuners on here, or join any of those boards and ask somebody more knowledgeable than me.
the 16bit (WRX) and 32bit (STi) launch control can be edited into your AP tune by pulling up your rom and editing it. I think the patch for it is out too, but just need someone who knows how to do it.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1410201 here's a good faq on reflashing your own car. romraider is apparently the new name for enginuity so forgot that part from my older posts.
bump..have a newb question. So is this safer than your typical fuel-cut launch control? Is it timing based? good idea/bad idea? oh and will it work with ecutek?
somehow I missed this... Again . You'd have to have 4.444 final drive F/R with PPG straight cut gears before you can get away with this 'somewhat reliably'.
If it does use timing retard then yes. Otherwise, last I checked its still fuel cut rev limit based on an aux input. If fuel cut: bad idea PERIOD. If timing retard: BAD idea for any 5MT car. Fine and dandy for 6MT cars.
crap. After looking again I think its fuel-cut based So what launch controls are out there that are timing based and safe?
anti lag is 'safe'... But if someone would come up with a timing based launch control...that would be awesome.
