What do you guys think of this suspension setup on a 2004 WRX with Full Cobb sway swag. 1. Ohlins Fixed Perch struts 2. RCE black springs 3. Group N tophats front and back Would you change anything? Be honest as we want the ultimate setup on my buddies car.
I think that sounds pretty damn nice, other than needing some sort of adjustable tophats. Seems like a waste to have that setup and not have any adjustability with it.
 I hear good things about the RCE blacks, but I dunno much about other springs. I just ended up going with coilovers, because once you get to that price range, it made more sense to me...
For max performance, I wouldn't go with the Cobb sways. I would choose either the biggest Whiteline sizes or go to the Strano FSB. The Strano will be rough on the aluminum control arms, but worth it. Regardless of springs, he needs to be at 27mm or above on the FSB. It will make more of a difference than anything else on turn-in. I agree with wrxin8or on the top hat and PDE plates. Probably best option out there. If not, go with the RCE plates that don't change ride height.
I went with the Group N tophats in the rear, PDE plates up front and the RCE Tarmac 2 coilover setup. I've been pretty happy with it for over a year now. I've only adjusted it once and I never feel like I have more engine than the suspension can handle. I've always liked coilovers better than trying to match springs and struts myself. No matter how hard I tried to get a perfect setup a coilover was always better. Best of luck finding that silky smooth suspension combination.
^^ Good call. Then add some PDE plates up front and you should be good. I don't have any personal experience with ohlins, but I've never heard any complaints.
talk to rob @ robispec.com he'll set you up with the most incredible set up. i didnt know my car could habdle like this after he got to my car. the car turns like rwd. and has traction of awd. best of both worlds. i saved about 6~10 sec !! in rain !! off the track (lil tally) with less grippier tires with his set up compared to my old stockish set up. (MR package bilstein set up)
