This is the rough draft for this event, please feel free to post or pm with suggestions: The 1st Annual Father’s Day Carshow for MUST Ministries at Cumberland Community Church will be held Sunday June 15th at Cumberland Community Church. We can have people start to setup at 9am. Many of us will be breaking for a very interesting Church service from 10:15 to about 11:30. The show will officially start at Noon. This will be a VERY exciting and unique event. In addition to the normal show festivities, we are also going to be having some interesting activities. We will be using the show as an opportunity to have people donate food (and/or money) for MUST Ministries: http://www.mustministries.org/ There are record numbers of people needing food from MUST, and donations have either stagnated or actually been dropping at most locations: http://www.mdjonline.com/content/index/showcontentitem/area/1/section/15/item/110859.html The way this is going to work is that the show itself is of course free, but everybody will have the opportunity to donate in exchange for tickets. 2 Cans of food, 1 Large Box of food, or $10 will get you 1 ticket. That ticket can be used as a “marker” for the “How long will it take” games or it will buy you 5 swings of the sledgehammer into the Chrysler Conquest. We will be having an old Subaru that will have the oil drained out of the motor and be run at 5,000 rpm. You will be able to “bet” on how long the motor will last. We will also have an old Chrysler Conquest that will be setup to see how far we can tip it before it rolls over. You will be able to “bet” on how far it can be tipped before it rolls. Once we roll it each way, you will be able to “buy” 5 swings with a sledgehammer with a ticket. Then we will have our final “How long will it take” game of how long if will take our local firefighters to cut the car in half with the Jaws of Life. The winners will have their choice from a number of donated services including free car washes at Car Nutz and free services at TopSpeed. The show itself will be broken down into just a few simple categories: 1)Off-Road (you guys get to jump the curb and park on the grass) 2)Domestic (anything newer than 1980 and made in America) 3)Import (anything newer than 1980 and not made in America) 4)Vintage (anything older than 1980) 5)Other (motorcycles, atv’s, buggy’s, karts, etc) Entering is free, but a "1 ticket worth donation" is requested. Registration will soon be available on a website. For questions about participating in the show or donating items to given as prizes, please e-mail Scott Siegel at siegelracing@hotmail.com
This sounds like the best even ever! Blow up a motor beat a car with a bat Tip a car over In for carnage
If you are interested in participating in the show, or want to "register" a "flipping team" e-mail me at siegelracing@hotmail.com Thanks, Siegel
Allright guys and gals, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD for this event and make it BIG. We are going to have a good time... Siegel
I got approval to send out a company wide email to my company (crystal springs) about the event, hope it helps with the turn out.
We have the Conquest to roll over. We have the sledgehammer to hit it with. We have the 95 Impreza with a (currently) running 1.8 that we're going to sit on the rev limiter until something cool happens. You should be there: http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=3....885309,-84.467096&spn=0.024725,0.037594&z=15
I was hoping to see more response in this thread! I will be therefor sure and I'm bringing my brother and trying to get my mom to come! Lets make this big as we can people!!!
Sorry man, I just work in IT, ha ha... I will be bringing some family with me. I cant wait, its going to be a blast.
I think it will be a good turn out. I hope they will be advertising it at 41, cause that will draw a crowd. I know it might be a little late for this idea, but maybe advertise at local grocery stores as well.
Decent turnout...thanks to Scott for putting this on! Good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Hopefully I'll post some pics soon.
^^^ Scott was too busy being gitty like a school girl watching the FD cut the car in half to take any!!!
Are you serious? My old 1.8L DSM was like that. The night that I completed building the 4g63 turbo swap I went out for a drive to see how bad I could blow up the 93 hp 1.8L SOHC engine. I kept it in third gear and redlined it. Drove (yes DROVE) it down the road for 28 miles before it gave. It simply went tick tick , CLUNK CLUNK and I STILL drove it the extra 3 miles to the house at redline. The manifold was GLOWING red and it got so hot that the paint on the NT hood started bubbling. It was awesome!
