Axis Widetracks

Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by wileycoyote0022, Jun 18, 2008.

  1. I have mentioned before what I wanted to do with rims and tires. I want to stick 235/18/40 under the car. I found the rims I really like, but have heard some that having a large lip on the rim could effect a Subaru's wheel bearings. What do yall know about this?

The rims that I decided to go with are Axis Widetracks, 18x8 with a 60mm or 90mm lip. Not quite sure on that part yet.

the lip wont effect the bearings, its a function of the offset vs. the overall wheel width. so find out what the offsets are and report back

ok so I took a look and it looks like they are all 8" wide in ET 20 and 40 flavors. I wouldnt go with either. 235 is a good tire size for a 8" wheel but you need a higher offset than 40 for an 8" wheel. Also the deeeep lip look is whack on WRXs in my opinion. My wheels have a lip but its as big as I'd ever want it.

  4. Offset is 20,I like the deep look. I found a calculator online that does offsets, but don't know what my stock offset is.

Also I wanna see what all every likes and or runs as a wheel and tire combo, I'm new to the subie world so still trying to get a feel for what I want my own to look like.

I cant remember stock offset exactly but its like 48~50 so 40 is def. too low. if you have a 9" wheel then 40 is ok but can you say rub?

A 40 offset should be fine. A lot of people run 35 offset with no problem.

  7. Damn, that sucks. they wont work. You have some name brands I should look at more than another, I really would like to get into a 18x8, and 235 tire as long as I can safely fit it without rubbing.

40 offset on an 8" wheel is way off and 35 on an 8" wheel is just plain retarded...

people running 35-40 offset are running 8.5-9.5" wheels...

    great recommendation.

  12. I went and checked out subydude.com, they are pretty limited for 18X8 or 18x8.5 for 5x100 lugs. Any other good sites to look at. I did however check out rota's website, and not much was really jumping out at me, the only one I like was the SVN Rota's, and they were ok.
