such limited options. am i wrong? ok my question is... what are the exact dimensions i need (off set, tire, and other wise) to put 18s on my 04 wrx wagon. or at least an idea of what parameters i should stay within when choosing 18s. i dont mind lowering a little, but i want no scrub issues and something thats bitchen but practical for a daily driver. please help... this money is burning a hole in my pocket!
question is how aggressive do you want to go and are you willing to roll some fenders. currently i'm on shitty s-techs with an 18-7.5 +48 wheel and 225-40 tires. slight rubbage in the back when loaded in turns but nothing serious. my next set will be something much more aggressive...break out the baseball bat for rolling but there are planty of options
im not lowered but i have rota tarmac three's on my car... they were on it when i got it and im not a hundred percent sure but i believe they are like 8 inches wide... they are 18 and i dont believe the car is lowered... i have 245-45 and i have no scrubbing what so ever... everyone always ask if its lowered due to the bigger wheels... not sur eof an offset either... main thing is i have no scrubbing even with fat friends in the back of my car
yes but he said he doesnt mind lowering which means he may not lower the car... just trying to throw my two cents in cause every little bit helps if you ask me... clean wagon though man
I wouldnt go much wider than a 225 width tire unless you're going with some stiff springs/struts or stiffer coilovers. The guys that have problems rubbing are having those problems due to running springs that are ~10-20% stiffer than stock but sitting much lower, the car still bounces around too much and you get rubbing.
The diameter of the wheel isn't nearly as important as the overall tire diameter and width. When you get a larger diameter wheel, you just get the appropriate tire size and your overall tire diameter will be very close. As many have said, 225 is about as wide as you want to go to avoid rubbing issues. People DO use 235 width or more on wagons, but that is dependent on other mods: roll fenders, lots of negative camber, very stiff springs etc... For example: if your stock size is 205/55/16 (that's mine anyway) you can get 17's with 225/45/17, this increases diameter by 0.41% (negligible) you can get 18's with 225/40/18, this increases diameter by 0.84% (again, negligible) For your wheels, you need some with 5x100 bolt pattern Stock offset is 53-55mm. VERY FEW aftermarket wheels actually come with an offset that high; most people just say go with 48 or higher. There are lots of wheels in the 48+ range. Also, if you look around there are MANY different kinds of stock subaru wheels out there: old RS wheels, 5x100 BBS wheels (from 04 STi's and others) and other different looking stockers. These are a great option if you are worried about fitment. However there are no stock 5x100 18's that I know of. i love my rota's... clean look and honestly i dont mind the height, the car looks like it sits low due to the big wheel and no fender gap...

i would suggest since you have a wagon, to buy subaru specific offsets. link 1 on IA has the perfect example, i wouldn't recommend those "drifz" wheels for so many reason most of which is the offset +35. its easier with a sedan to get more aggressive offsets because of the fenders. i personally plan on trying a 18-8 with an offset lower than +42-ish. but if you buy something with a 7.5/8 width and around a +45 to +52 offset you should be in the clear
