Well here is my attempt at a ram air intake. It works like a charm. Disclaimer....this worked TOO well. It was forced air into my filter at speed and the MAF 'thought' air was going through so it sent the ECU the signal to fire the injectors. If you are off throttle when this happens then your car will flood and stall. So this mod can cause issues depending on where your filter is. It NEEDS to be baffled or the air needs to be directed anywhere other than on top of the filter. Do this at your own risk....you've been warned. Items needed.... 1) Metal Clothes Dryer ducting 2) Plastic dryer duct vent 3) Optional -- paint 4) 2 strips of thick metal about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide each 5) some 3" long bolts with washers and nuts. I used a 6/32 size. It's self explanatory how to install so I'm gonna just give pics. Use the strips of metal to make a bracket to hold the vent. I used the old bolt hole for the stock fog light and one of the front bumper support bolts to hold the bracket. Also some minor trimming may be needed depending on your FMIC or lack of one. Oh and real HP junkies work on their cars rain or shine  Test fitting...I know it's warp sided but it wasn't tightened up yet.
So I am guessing this is the reason for the leak youve got? Looks neat...Id like to see how it affects IAT's though
NOTHING to do with the leak I have and I had said leak before I started this. I haven't touch the IC pipes. IAT's used to hover 20-30 degrees above ambient. Even higher sitting still. Now it stays 2-3 degrees above ambient while moving. IAT drop almost instantly after sitting still once I get moving. It'll get even better once I remake another air box for the short ram. It's so hard to make one with the FMIC piping in the way.
Thanks. It may be ghetto but was cheap and best of all it WORKS. Actually putting those huge fog light vents in the INGS bumper to use
I've been thinking about doing this exact same thing when I get around to installing my short-ram intake. Looks good and I like that you've got numbers to back it up.
Blah if you want to make more power you will get rid of them. Hahaha. I had to get rid of mine to get the Perrin FMIC. However I wish I got the TurboXS FMIC but I got my Perrin one for a heck of a deal so I couldn't pass it up.
Its not doing any sucking so he doesn't have to worry about puddles. The tubing just directs air to the intake. I did the same thing with one of the projector housings in my old headlights.
Yea the only water that will get in there is rain and mist. Nothing to saturate the area. The rain and mist will be pushed down away from the filter due to a 'funnel' that will be there. When that part is done I will post pics.
awesome....i been wanting to do the same to mine....ram/box, but been too damn tied up to do anything. One thing i have is...my FMIC piping runs dead center of the fog light duct so it's gonna be fun.
So this is different from a CAI in that it doesn't do any actual sucking of air from the fender well, it just directs colder air towards the short ram, correct?
