I realize most of you guys are either GT students or GT fans, but for those of you who aren't, is anyone going to the UGA season opener this weekend? I went to Georgia Southern so I feel somewhat obliged, especially since I am a fan of both football programs. If anyone is going, do you have a spare ticket? I'm looking to spend under $50. If not I will probably just wait outside the gates and buy one from a scalper for $10 after the game has already started.

And for you GT guys, anyone have tickets to the GT v. UGA game? I am interested in going to that as well this year.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Jake

I'll be tailgating in Athens (even though I am in fact a Tech fan). I just like to party. :)

    But sorry, no tickets.

GT vs UGA is in Athens this year...it'll be a lot easier finding a ticket up there than it will here in Atlanta. I'd like to go, too, even though I can only see things ending badly for us.

Anywho - for all the Tech fans out there, know what today is?

if we loose today. i won't watch any more games.....freakin jacksonvill..we better win.

chan isn't here and reggie isn't here so I'd expect at least a less frustrating game.

Yeah... you do know that JSU has an ex-LSU quarterback right? Yeah, Ryan Perrilloux. Granted he was a back up quarterback but he started the SEC championship game last year AND LSU did happen to win the National Championship.

Could be interesting. Win or lose, its still not Chan. So I am frikkin excited. :ddirty:

As long as we don't go for field goal at 1st and Goal or even 4th and goal...

    OR

as long as our QB doesn't throw away the ball at 4th and goal..

    I'm happy.

The Georgia Southern Eagles play an eleven-game conference schedule. The Eagles have won six NCAA I-AA National Championships.

    National Championships
1985 - Coach Erk Russell and the Eagles won their first national championship vs. Furman University in the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. Quarterback Tracy Ham threw for 419 yards and rushed for another 90 to overcome a 28-6 deficit.
1986 - The Eagles returned to Tacoma to defeat the Arkansas State Indians. Tracy Ham earned 486 rushing and passing yards and three touchdowns to become the first team to win two I-AA national championships.
1989 - In Erk Russell's final game, the Eagles defeated Stephen F. Austin in Statesboro, Georgia in front of 25,725 fans to complete a perfect 15-0 season. Quarterback Raymond Gross engineered 17 fourth quarter points, including a game-winning field goal with 1:41 remaining in the game.
1990 - Tim Stowers won the Eagle's fourth national championship vs. Nevada in the first season without Coach Russell.
1999 - Paul Johnson won his first national championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee vs. Youngstown State in Jim Tressell's last game as a Penguin. Adrian Peterson ran for a championship game record 247 yards on 25 carries and scored three touchdowns.
2000 - The Eagles defeated the Montana Grizzlies to win their sixth and most recent national championship.

    National runners-up
1988 - The Eagles lost to Furman University in Pocatello, Idaho.
1998 - In Paul Johnson's first national championship game, the Eagles lost to UMASS.

    Walter Payton Award
Georgia Southern is one of five schools to have multiple Walter Payton Award winners honoring the top offensive player in the Football Championships Subdivision. Running Back Adrian Peterson won the award in 1999 and quarterback Jayson Foster won it in 2007.

    Eddie Robbinson Award
Two Georgia Southern coaches have won the Eddie Robinson Award winners honoring the top coach in Division I-FCS. Erk Russell won it in 1989 and Paul Johnson in 1998.

Hey, c'mon give me a break. I am an Alumni for crying out loud, lol!

I wish I could go to the game, but as usual I am going to miss it. I do plan to go to alot of the home games in Statesboro though.

I am planning to buy field level seats for the game next year if the play again (which they should).

Go EAGLES, peck the DAWGS eyes out and feed them to the babies!
