What did I do to my clutch/flywheel?

Just a little while ago I was driving up to a building to talk to someone. To get into this parking lot theres a pretty decently slopped hill to drive over. Well because I missed the first row I ended up having to start on this hill. Usually that's no big deal, bring up the revs a bit and then slowly let the clutch out and go. Now I did the same thing this time except right as I was about to get off the clutch I heard a loud "screeeech", shortly followed by what I am assuming was the smell of burnt clutch. It felt a little odd after that while I finished parking, like it didn't want to engage properly.

However I went inside and about 5 minutes later I came back to see what the damage was. I started the car up and drove off with no problem. Now everything seems to be normal.

So is this something to be worried about? Did I do any damage and is this a sign that my clutch/flywheel are starting to go out?

If you want to bring it here. I can have one of the Master techs take it for a spin and let you know the next step.

While I appreciate the offer, the car only has 42k miles on it and no engine mods yet so any damage in this department is still covered under warranty.

I was just wondering if I should start to be worried about it and have a dealer visit in mind.

Your clutch is not covered under any warranty. It is a wear and tear item like your brakes, tires, winshield wipers.

Usually you get the first replacement free, then you have to pay for it. Same way for me and they even did that for my windshield wipers.

I'm under the impression that if the clutch goes before 60k it will be covered in my warranty. Thats part of the drivetrain and I see no reason why it would not be covered.

I know for a fact that the clutch is not covered. its not a cheap ware and tare item. Trust me, not covered.

We had a similar discussion a few weeks ago about clutch warranty coverage and most of us seem split. Most people say it's not covered, but there are a few of us (myself included) who've had our clutches warrantied for some reason or another. I'm not sure if we're the special ones, but I took mine to SoG and they never questioned it...just replaced it, gave me a free rental car while they did so, and I walked out the door w/out paying a dime.
