http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=131768 I am always amazed at the premium "tuner" cars go for. I still can't believe the 80K Mustang GT500kr either....
I've never driven a type r, but I bet that thing would run with an STI. I think most people just get hung up on the fact that it is, in fact, a civic.
:unamused: Not really. Its lighter. Less drivetrain loss due to not having to drive 11ty billion extra components for 2 more wheels.
actually it is quite a bit faster than both the new sti and the evo x. hp/tq is not everything. with a lap time of 1:00.6 at Tsukuba Circuit it put both the evo x and the new sti to shame :wavey: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X : 1:06:46 and 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI : 1:05:95 http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/05/evo-x-vs-sti-tsukuba-lap-times/
Raped? Are you kidding? It was tortured, raped, mangled, raped again, then murdered. 5+ seconds is super fast. However, it is 5k more than STi and lacking AWD...not that I would never buy an 08 STi.
The article also says it was on grooved slicks for that lap; Certainly wouldn't hurt the lap time. Either way its quick, not really 44k worth of quick IMO though
When I said "run with" I meant around a track. The Japanese don't really seem to care about straight line performance as much. For my money I would certainly rather have an STI. I was just saying that when you add in the rarity factor its probably worth the asking price. Of course the STI could feasibly be your DD.
Lol, you are the one on crack! lol... That car would own a WRX and hang with an STi anyday of the week on a real track.
The civic is on slicks...put the STi on slicks and it will definitely drop 5 seconds off its lap time...
I'd like to see one of those Best Motoring videos with the cars on it, that would be cool. The Sti would win for sure but it would be fun to watch.
Exactly...wether or not it is able to beat an STi or WRX or EVO or whatever is so far beyond the point...it is still a Honda...and I love Hondas...My first "fast" (to me) car was a honda...it was a 91 gs integra, and I loved it. Honda's new design is top notch, it blows away most cars on the road right now as far as orginalilty and asthetics go. It is pure japanese design, and they are beautiful. (look at GMs production version of the Volt to see the first copycat.) But, unless we are talking about the S2000 or NSX, Hondas are not race cars...and I don't care how quick they are around a track.
