    Hey hey,

I just joined the club and got an '06 WRX wagon. It's got the 6 CD changer (which is good), but no AUX (which is bad). I figured I'd be alright with the disc changer til I built up enough scratch to swap it out and I'd just burn CDs to listen to. There's a small problem with that, though…

I'm getting random bursts of static when I listen to a CD-R, but not when I listen to a purchased disc.

Anyone got any recommendations for CD-R brands that play better than others? So far I've just used Office Depot and Imation printable blanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated by my ears.

    FTZ ^.^

I haven't used CD-R Media in ages, but when I did I had good luck with Memorex and Imitation(?).

I didn't have any problems with my last 3 stock Subaru CD players playing burned CD's. In my Legacy, I was using Ridata CD's from Micro Center. Sony/Verbatim also makes good CD's

I really didn't think it'd be an issue in a car so new, especially since the '07 plays data cds and has an aux input, but I've honestly had better luck in this car with the cheap, crappy discs so far.

Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone think it might be something else?

Yeah, my friend has an '07 Outback Sport and his does fine, and Bolderer's '06 WRX does fine, so I'm not sure what the deal is here. Everyone I describe the problem to is baffled.

I think that eventually I'll just swap it out for a new one, but I love having a decent head unit that actually matches the rest of the car for once…
