In the morning, and when leaving work (my engine cold) when i start the engine my car makes this weird annoying squalling noise for about 5-10 seconds tops, than it stops.
Do you mean squealing, if it's squalling you may have a squirrel trapped under the hood, if it's squealing your belts might need changed!
could also be the throw out bearing. My s2000 makes the same noise and that is the culprit. Depends on how many miles you have on the car nad when the last time your belts were changed.
Just to add another thing to check, my AC idler pully made that same noise and ended up detonating into 100 pieces, breaking the belt and tearing into the timing cover slightly. I tried just to lubricate it...does not work. If that ends up being what it is, you can get a new one at NAPA for cheap....much cheaper than Subaru and looked almost identical. Mine went out under 100k miles.
check AC/ALT/PS belts (2) and the AC idler pulley. 99.9% of the time this case is the ALT belt but the AC belt will need to be changed as well.
being bored at work today, i could not stop thinking about that part of the comment. I had a big smile on my face all day!
bring it by subaru of kennesaw and ill be glad to check it out for you. im out of town this friday through sunday.
