I am going to put an exhaust on my stock wrx as my first mod with a tune soon after. I am leaning toward Cobb cat-back, but that is a little pricey. Any other exhaust that has the same growl and sound as the Cobb but is a little cheaper? Or am I going to be happy with the Cobb even with the price? I want to stick with a cat-back.
I just got the cobb turbo back and absolutely love it...i think its worth every dollar....thats me though..others may have different opinions..im a believer in "you get what you pay for" type of guy
Yeah I want it to sound basically similar to your old bugeye(RIP). Here are a few I am looking at: http://www.raceinspired.com/ps-9843...haust-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-gdb-2002-up.aspx http://www.raceinspired.com/ps-167-...tback-exhaust-subaru-impreza-wrx-2002-up.aspx http://www.raceinspired.com/ps-231-...k-exhaust-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-2002-up.aspx The Cobb cat-back is still an option though.
I may be leaning toward the Invidia G200 due to a good price... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
The G200 has a very deep, subdued kind of exhaust note. The invidia race N1 sounds ridiculously awesome but is a bit loud with a downpipe. I have the invidia catless DP with a custom, unresonated, magnaflow muffler equipped catback. Its raspier than most and effing loud but everyone tells me they love the way it sounds. My Dad tells me its one of the best sounding cars he's ever heard. True that the cobb is probably the highest quality with the most mature sounding exhaust note. Alex's car has a cobb catback with a catless DP and it sounds like win and sex. However, the invidia N1 is awesome. It looks awesome and sounds so mean. I would suggest it. It'll stay relatively quiet as long as you have a cat installed. Catless its going to be ridiculously loud.
Yeah I think I may be leaning more toward an Invidia Exhaust. The louder the better for me. Two questions: Which would be louder with stock everything, N1 or G200? Do Invidia's match up all the stock equipment for the install? I don't want to weld anything or have to buy a DP for it to fit right.
The N1 is for sure the louder of the two. If you want REALLY loud, look into a Blitz Nur Spec R. Those are OMGWTFBBQ loud. All exhausts should mate up to the stock DP easily. Some, however, have issues mating to other aftermarket downpipes. I think the invidia is not one of those, however. Nor is the blitz.
Yeah I have heard that Blitz' are really loud. I don't want over the top OMGWTFBBQ loud. Just reasonably loud that also sounds good. I am going to be running stock UP/DP and with cats, so that should keep the sounds somewhat suppressed.
Borla Hey man, Any Borla system is going to have the styling similar to that of the Cobb and a sound that cant be beat. The borla systems are designed to acccentuate the boxer sound. It is amazing! Not loud inside but not too loud outside. On a side note I would purchase the cobb ap before the exaust though. Just my opinion.
Just to throw in my $.02. I don't exactly know what you plan to do down the road, but if you are planning on eventually getting a full exhaust (catless up/aftermarket down/catback), I'd say to hold off on the protune until then. Protuning a car with just a catback would be pretty much the same as a stock car. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just seems like a waste of money to me if you are planning on doing future mods (since you'll have to get retuned). Instead of putting the money towards the tune, I'd say put it towards a up/down pipe combo. Or go ahead and buy the AP and run an off the shelf map until you get a full exhaust.
That would be cool if I could hear it in person first. Canton is not far from Roswell either. I would be interested in buying it also.
I would get the Invidia. That is what I had on my WRX and loved it. That being said, the cobb system is beautiful as well but it is very pricey.
A straight pipe is going to ZOMG loud. Which is one notch above OMGWTFBBQ loud. Seriously. You're almost guaranteed to get pulled over with a straight pipe. Scoobaru had one on his STI. He had a catless downpipe with a 3" straight pipe. Holy tits was that thing rowdy.
yes i drive it every day... if im just cruising around it really isnt too bad... wot i get noticed but what subie doesn't... i wouldnt mind meeting up to let you here it...
When I had my bugeye I went with Stromung and thought it sounded amazing... I have a Helix DP going to a Perrin single tip and think it sounds pretty awesome, not too loud, but it really wakes up when you get on it...
i had a catless turboxs 4" dp with a 3" straightpipe. It was rediculously loud....sounded freaking awesome though. Never got pulled over, but it was loud as hell in the car too. crappy cell phone video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTlPNEVa7DI
yes i mean straight pipe... no muffler.. just a nice clean 3 inch pipe sticking under the bumper.... im located in canton but i will be heading to lenox mall tonight so pm me if you are anywhere close or want to meet... we are doing some photo's tonight so come meet up more the better in my opinion!
