i am looking at getting new brakes but want to upgrade to a big brake kit. everything is stupid expensive but i wanted some opinions before i jump into anything. Brembo, Stoptech, Endless, Wilwood??? there are a lot to choose from. what's better and why? i have slotted rotors, steel line, hawk pads and ate blue fluid but i want the whole package now. HELP!
endless are expensive, you could probly find some used brembos pretty cheap, i understand that stoptechs are on the cheap side (as far as price not quality), and i like the only car i've ridden in with wilwoods up front. ha, not much help
I think TopSpeed still has a Racing Brake bbk for sale for a good price? May want to PM them and see.
It is because it comes with an adaptor bracket to mount the rear brembos to the Legacy rear hub. Dont know if you would have that problem with a wrx.
You know the poor man's front bbk would either be the LGT setup or find a used set of STi front Brembos and get some 04 STi rotors. I recently saw a pair of Front Brembo calipers for $500 shipped on nasioc. I think they even came with the pads. Then all you would need is a set of front 04 STi rotors.
I'm in the process of doing that right now. I just ordered a set of the DBA 5000 rotors and the brembo calipers are in the mail. I'll let you know how they feel
If you want the full brembo set up give milenium auto a call. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1528434 They quoted me 1100 for used brembos at all four corners with 5x100 rotors. You'll lose the parking brake if you use the rears though unless you get some of those custom DBA rear rotors that have the 170mm center for it.

Godspeed in the UK makes spacers to use the 190mm parking brake rotor with the 170mm mechanism. As far as big brakes on the cheap, yeah (1) go used (brembo from an STi). (2)You could go with a H6 rear setup. It is like 1 inch bigger than stock. If you paired this with the JDM/EDM two pot rear calipers it would be "bigger." (3) For the fronts I have been wondering about the Power Slot +1 rotors. Larger rotors with extension bracket to space the stock caliper out. These with JDM/EDM 4 pot front calipers would be "bigger." (4)They make the Power Slot +1 kit for the front and back setup so both of these with JDM/EDM calipers could be nice but actually cost more than used Brembos. Side benefit is the parking brake would work and brake bias should stay near stock.
The STi rear disks have a bigger gap in the center for the parking brake(190mm vs 170mm). You can either get a spacer like Sean was talking about or get custom rotors that are the STi size with the WRX parking brake center. From what I've read its easier to do the latter.
STi Brembos have a built in drum brake with a inside diameter of 190mm where as your stock brakes have a 170mm diameter. Using the DBA rotor or Godspeed spacers will allow you to keep it. You beat me to it. I am at work and a coworker walked in so i had to stop typing for a while.

Yup, that was me You don't need a bbk on your car. Just get Hawk HP+ pads, new lines, rotors, fluid and you will be fine. That is all I am using on my car and it stops very well.
BBK are great for the track because of their ability to absorb heat. On the street a set up like integroid suggests will be enough to lock your tires.

Mainly because they are surprisingly heavy and stout calibers. I've been considering upgrading to those, although I may put something else up front.
Sounds like a plan..I just want to have that look/beauty of a bbk..of course it makes the bank account balance look ugly...hmm...
The other thing to consider of course is that moving to a BBK will potentially threaten the life of your bearings / hubs (a la the problem on the 04 STi's).
In theory a BBK should actually lengthen the life of the bearings, since most are a two part rotor less heat actually makes it way into the hubs.
