if we have long enough and have enough help we can swap an entire impreza L drivetrain in that bad boy and put your junk in mine. then get my car towed back here to get buttoned up......... just a thought
ha, a full swap will take a few days. just to put everything in and out if they are totalling it, if we had enough people we could probly bust in a full day but if the engine is toast, its probly not worth it. but if the tranny is ok then that would definitely be worth a days worth of busting ass
took us 4 hrs just to do a regular 5 speed swap on jasons with nothing but air tools. This would be a full tranny/hub/brake/parking brake/wheel swap. With no air tools on uncomfortable rocks. Not to mention the fact that it's also an auto to manual swap and I've never done one of those. I'm definitely ready to do it. But we have to have a full day lots of help and air tools if we can. And I'd need some wheels to borrow/have. I don't have any 5x114s laying around
this is also IF the car is totalled. We'd need enough help to have people working on both cars at the same time as well as a couple people just focusing on removing the items you plan to sell and putting stock parts on in their place. And I also am assuming that one or more of your hubs/knuckles/axles is bad and would have to buy a reman axle and/or find away to make the hubs/knuckle work. And I wouldn't do it without the king to help. Since he recently did his tranny swap he would know what sensors, etc. we will need for speed etc. He works during the weeks. I can make this Saturday work for me and if you give me the go ahead I can throw some people together
well the engine is bad. so im just looking to accomplish the tranny/brake and accompanying parts. so the poor bastard would just be getting a working L tranny. with a blown motor.
30 We've both been to the track a lot. It could have happened to anyone. Hey 2thache I'm glad we had that mountain run a few weeks back. That was the first and only time I was able to open it up. (of course in short bursts )
Jake your speaking crazy talk man lol. The best way to do it... Pull everything out of your car in your garage. Load it up in a truck, go pull everything off of the Sti and put your stuff in it, throw everything in the truck and take it back to your garage to put on your car. There is no way in hell you will be able to swap the hub/brakes/tranny in the junkyard parking lot and drive home. The more people you have the worse it is
Sorry to hear about your wreck. It looks like a monster! Dont forget to uninstall the AP as soon as you find out it is totaled. I am going to say it is totaled if it needs a new motor
The car is totaled. I'm working out the details with the shop. Perhaps I can tow it to my shop nearby - swap parts and bring it back to them after a weekend.
I thought about swapping your STI topmount with my WRX topmount when I was over there last friday with Alex
I just talked to the shop. They can't release the vehicle unless the insurance company or someone pays them for the towage and storage - no problem. However they are really laid back. They're going to allow me to go in and swap parts back to stock on saturday 9am-12pm. (they close at noon) I'm going to compile a list of items that I'll be selling and post it here. If anyone's interesting helping this saturday let me know top mount is gone. siegel bought it when I went FMIC
we have no top mounts here....what happened to your perrin big mount? I'm down to help Saturday, David!
I swear to god there was a top mount there on Friday....and Alex thinks there was too Then again, I may be going crazy. I still have the TXS topmount anyway....just gotta put that and the rest of the exhaust on
I knew there was something there....I just figured it was david's stock top mount. I will be on the lookout for the part out though
You think they'd let you swap some gold brembo's for yours in the front? I just bought some gold ones that are not on my car yet that I was going to prep and paint but if I could swap them for yours and it'd save me a lot of effort and time. Let me know, I'd be willing to throw you a couple cases of beer or something for it.
shit! Tereance wants me to drive him to pick up his new car on Saturday. I need parts off this car! Where is the car located. Maybe we can swing by before we leave town Saturday morning and do a few things. If you prefer to pm me the location that's cool. Also find out if there is a buyback on the whole car or if they are going to auction it off. Thanks!!
part list Ok everybody... This saturday between 9am to 12pm I'm going to the body show to pull aftermarket parts and possibly some stock parts. If anyone is interested in helping swap some of these part on saturday let me know ahead of time (I don't want too many at the shop - they are nice enough to allow me to do this anyways). No last minute crashers - please contact me ahead of time - email 4sevens@gmail.com I've only listed the price that I paid for each of these parts. No unreasonable offers will be turned down. If you can provide me a link to a recent sale with the same part in similar condition let me know. I've listing up all the parts here http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pvo7AXIYFrKc0ARkAPWu0aA I pasted these here in case you don't want to click - it's a bit messy but at least you can click on some of these links for pictures: part paid market notes ultimate racing GT35R kit: $3,250 http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Products2/WRX-STi_02-07/WRX-STi_02-07_GT35R_TurboKit.shtml CAI GT35R TIAL 44mm external wastegate $400 EWG uppipe kit for tial 44mm $375 http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Products2/WRX-STi_02-07/WRX-STi_02-07_Ext-Gated-UpPipe_44mm.shtml DEI heat wrapped $65 Perrin FMIC $1,225 Right side is cracked but siegal says it might be fixable. piping on the right side is crushed and needs to be replaced. I'm interested in the steering wheel since u said the airbags didn't deploy. I can put my stocker on to swap it out and I figure we can do that rather quickly in the morning. Where is the car at??
I've updated the list here with dibs http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pvo7AXIYFrKc0ARkAPWu0aA If you make on offer, make sure you have a link to a comparable sale If it's lower than 80% of the comp, it's likely I won't accept it I've got storage space and can sell parts slowly
Not sure if it's at the same shop as when I saw your car 2 weeks ago, but sorry for the loss. As for the inter cooler, it only looked to be damaged on the cast part. Some good prep work of the cracks and TIG it back together is all it would need. If somebody wants to take it on and needs a welder let me know. Damn shame, it was a sharp ride
Thought it was the same car. just went back through the first pages with pics. It's not the fins I was worried about, it was where the cast part is broken at. Plenty of meat left on the bone per say to TIG it back together without the heat trashing anything. It would be a problem if the thin gauge had a rip in it plus the cracks in the cast end. With a little time, it wouldn't take much to fix it like new.
