Hey Sunny! The last meet was a good turn out! Nice cars, good people and good host. You can count on me coming back to this place on the 9th. Let me know if I need to help out or bring any thing. -Kelsey
I think for this one we should take one car and hook it up to all the sensors ie oil temp, water temp,AFR etc. Neil
im down this time for sure. sorry about last time. i went down to atl for the devils-thrashers game thursday than back to atl friday to pick up my girfriend...no wait X-girlfriend at the airport and had to hang with her on sunday. ill be there the 9th
i should be able to come by.. i wouldn't mind bringing something if its needed... just tell me what and how much!
Thanks................We aslo enjoyed it.This one should be even better because it will be more relaxed. Neil
At the dyno day we didn't have time to dyno the R35 but it is confirmed that the R35 will be making an appearance on the dyno. Should be a hoot................
Yup yup Cobb chipped R35 GTR will be dynoing on this meet and FREE 1hr Dyno Time Give Away Raffle or FREE 3 Pulls anytime :ddirty:
Hey Neil I saw ya'll at the last PCA event at Road Atlanta, how did it go? I work at Stand21 let me know if you need any gear and maybe we can work out a deal... Are you going to be at the NASA 8 hour endro in December? -Kelsey
Went very well untill one hit the wall...............ouch. Are you coming Sunday ? should be a blast as we now have 4 GTR's coming and might be one more. Neil
Ouch... what turn was it? Yeah I'm going to try to make it. I'm swamped with work and moving right now so I'll try to make some time to stop by. -Kelsey
well do to mis scheduling looks like i wont be able to make it... hopefully there will be another soon...
ehh, i might come when i wake up in the afternoon. adjusting my sleep schedule to start overnights monday night
BTW who won the Raffle at the dyno day for the 1 hour of dyno time? I never did get any response about that one.
Ah very cool. I saw one of the GTRs dyno today. Just cobb stage 1 and it put down around 430 to the wheels. Who ended up winning today's drawing?
That was fuguman (Tom). Lucky guy... unlucky Neil... I feel for him. That was a lot of panels to pull... Three all together.
hehehe Nice vids! That was the base line pull... and first OCT 93 map pull... that I messed up. A lot of fun!
Im amazed how smooth it is I intentionally put my elbow on the center console to see if the video would vibrate (if there is) - Absolutely amazing = NO Vibration. Orton need to increase resolution to capture how quick the rpm climbed At 12 psi its a monster i wonder what happens if upped the WBO2 says 9.8 AFR (not sure how accurate) thats more room too
Definitely cool to see a GT-R on the dyno. It was a pretty good meet. There were almost more GT-Rs than Subarus. See you all next time around.
good meet, and good to see everyone again. Yup Tom got the 1hr dynotime or 3 pulls, i am sure Neil's excited haha. He'll be more than happy to strap it down again. There were 6 GTR's and 6 Subaru's (i was hopping for more tho ). More pix coming up soon.
408whp 15% loss = 469 crank hp 20% loss = 489 crank hp stock is 480 to the crank so seems like pretty accurate numbers.
HP tells very little look at the torque and how smooth and how long it pulls and full at 3500 RPM I personally think Nissans number of 10% driveline loss is incredible and i also believe its quite accurate. If it is thats excellent for an AWD car. Look at the last dyno pull numbers and estimate how that dyno perform - estimate the dyno efficiency and Nissans number is more accurate than everyone thinks.
On Sunday, November 9th, 2008, Orton Performance strapped down their first GTR to their Land-And-Sea All-Wheel Drive (AWD) 2500 Pro Chassis load bearing dynamometer. This type of dyno is a load bearing type. The kind of numbers it puts down are considered more accurate than others and can deflate one's pride in their car. This is because actual HP is a lot lower than what people expect to see. Neil Orton (shop owner and head wrench) removed the rear under tray, while Speed for Sale's Jeremy Blackwell removed the front two under trays. The process took about an hour. Could have taken less time if it were not for Neil's lift layout. You see, Neil typically builds Porsche's and has his lift setup (in reverse). The GTR dynoed was a stock GTR with a Cobb Access Port. The Stage One 93 OCT (v1.08) map was loaded. Three pulls were done in third gear. Then, to get a baseline number, the Cobb map was changed to stock. Three more pulls were done. Numbers: Stock: WHP: 405.2 Torque: 414.8 Stage 1 OCT 93 (v.1.08): WHP: 438.5 Torque: 451.2 Location: Orton Performance (Cumming, Georgia) http://www.ortonperformance.com/ Dyno (taken verbatim from their website): "Orton Performance has the finest chassis dyno in the southeast. Our Land-And-Sea All-Wheel Drive (AWD) 2500 Pro Chassis load bearing dynamometer, complete with custom designed test cell with high flow exhaust extraction, can accurately measure up to 2500 HP and 225 MPH on all-wheel drive, front wheel drive and rear wheel drive vehicles. The massive 44" rollers result in more precise readings compared to the small roller dynos by preventing wheelspin in high horsepower vehicles." 'twas great meeting the new faces/seeing all the old faces. I had fun despite being so damned far away from home. here's my petition to move Orton closer to Marietta! There's some decent places around Marietta to operate.
