I needed an ACT clutch and my APS 3" turbo inlet installed. I put the job out there, a few folks were interested but had pretty busy schedules and weren't available soon, dealers were out of the question due to cost and could not do the APS. The local shops were giving very fair quotes but still little out of my price range. I started a dialogue with SLOWWRX regarding some questions about the APS and he offered to do the job. He was very fair with his labor charge and also offered to do the TGV deletes with some TGV's he had already prepped along with phenolic spacers i supplied. Let me just say Matt worked tirelessly on my car. He also swapped intakes free of charge with a customized and mildly ported SLOWWRX crinkle red wrx intake manifold, as well as spraying the valve covers crinkle red. I will post a picture of this, it is cool as hell, especially next to the new turbo inlet. Let me also mention that anyone that tells you an APS hard inlet is an easy install does not know what the fu$# they're taking about. This job is a PITA. Once Matt had everything done he fired up the car and the phenolic spacers were leaking. When I purchased them and asked the manufacturer if I needed gaskets they said no just silicone, so this is what Matt did. Long story short off came the upper intake etc again to install gaskets. Not only did Matt not charge me extra he threw me the keys to his car because I had school this weekend so I had a car. I had the opportunity to spend 48 hours driving a 2.5 hybrid with a Garret rotated turbo. Friggin' awesome! Matt delivered the car to me today at school and we swapped rides. Let me say that this car runs smoother than it ever has. There was not so much as a scratch on either front fender from wrenching. The engine compartment looks sexy as hell. I have to wait to let the clutch break in to really open it up, but it feels like it really wants to go. I also have to make an appointment with the Siegel for a tune to see if I can edge toward my goal of 300whp with an ej205/big16g set up. My last tune I was at 281whp. I am also considering an APS 65mm cold air to free up a few more ponies prior to the tune. Huge props to SLOWWRX. If you guys need some work done shoot him a PM. He will treat you right!:bigthumb:
Report back after the clutch break-in: curious to know your thoughts on the Act clutch. I have an Act stg II on my integra and am constantly wishing i had one for the wrx. (not hoping the current clutch breaks anytime soon but would not mind having to upgrade ) .
i would like to hear your thoughts on the clutch also... i have the act stg 3 in my wrx and i want to see what someone else thinks cause im not the happiest with mine...
For now until I can really get a good pull it is grippier and engages super nice. Also not as much of a top loader as the stocker engages much sooner. It is incredibly streetable and great for daily D. WJM recommended it he was right on the money!
Yeah I think a lot of us will agree that Matt's an awesome dude. Glad to hear you got everything in, WRXCoupe!
