Ok, i know it might be a dumb question. I found out this weekend that I had a dead battery, the hard way unfortunately. I changed it out with a Optima Red Top, so I would never have to do it again. But I noticed a big change, throttle felt more sensitive. Is it possible that a bad battery can affect this. My theory is maybe I produced more amps and my plugs are just firing better. I dont know.... Anyone have input on this? or am I just imaging things?
Did they red top come with a warranty? Ive been reading about a lot of them taking a dirt nap recently...
I knew that, but didnt know if the alternator plus battary would supply different amounts than just alternator. Just a thought. Yeah, comes with a 10 year warranty. If it does take a crap on me, im good, its 100% replacement.
Mine has been going strong for almost 3 years now. Bad battery can make sensors and stuff not work as well. Lots of stuff on modern fuel injected cars tie in to voltage...almost all sensors. A bad cell could create a drain on the alternator. Corrosion on grounds (like the battery ground) could create issues or make sensors not work exactly right, so ya, it is possible.
Well, he could of had a lot of corrosion on the ground and when he changed out the battery, he cleaned it up. A bad battery ground can cause all sorts of problems for your car. Hence why so many people sell grounding kits these days.
The battery acts as a capacitor/storage/shock absorber for the entire electrical system of the vehicle. The better the battery, the happier the system is. A bad/dead batter with the vehicle running ONLY on the alternator (aka the alt working at 100% capacity) makes for a very angry system.
Makes sence to me, it was pretty angry at me if thats the case. As far as corrosion, I didnt have a lick of it. All contact were good.
