Ok, so after 100,000 miles on the stock clutch, it started slipping pretty badly over the past week. What are everyone's opinions on clutches, and should I go ahead and do a lightweight flywheel while I am at it?
Yeah, I know about the exedy/stock replacement, but I am thinking about something a little stouter. The car will be going stg2 ASAP(have all the parts, just need to install them), and will probably have a bigger turbo in the next 6months to a year.
I've been running the ACT street clutch for 20 or 30 thousand miles now and I'm very happy with it. It's pretty stiff which can make traffic tiring, but I like it
I have the act street series clutch and lw fly in the bugeye and have had no issues. I did have some bogging issues with the 5mt but for some reason with the 6mt that is all gone, that or I just launch at redline.
I just put a act street series clutch in WrxCoupes car and it drove very nicely it you aren't going to go over 350 hp thats what I would use.
My Exedy organic has held up to me learning to drive 5speed and has a little over 20K miles on it, all of which running more than 240whp. I keep thinking its going to be the next thing to go but it still keeps grabbing. I love my lightweight flywheel, I cant comment on the change since I was on a stock flywheel on the old motor and a 12lb one on the newer more powerful motor but it makes a big difference driving around town and is a lot more responsive to rev matching.
ACT Street Setup. I have had about 10-12 diferent clutches in various cars and have never had problems with ACT clutches.
ACT HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH KIT SB3-HDMM SUBARU WRX 02-05. It is a great clutch for DD. Stock fly wheel is usually fine as well. Matt resurfaced mine it was good to go.
YES. That one is FTW. Heavier pedal, but like stock engagement. The Wife DD's that same clutch with the Exedy 12.5lb flywheel. A light flywheel is a MUST! the ACT 14.5lb is nice, the Exedy 12.5lb is nice. The Fidanza 9.5lb is FTMFW for the true driving enthusiast. The Fidanza I have is going in the Wife's car next time I have the time and energy.
