I smell gasoline in my car, not sure if it does this every time. Anytime i turn on heat, thats the time i smell the gasoline. I don't smell gasoline when i don't turn on the heat, car runs great, no leeks any where. I took the car for a check to Good Year. Any idea why i smell gasoline when i turn the heat on? Now im not so sure if it does if i turn on AC, but i smell it with heat turned on.
bugeyes are notorious for leaking fuel lines when it gets cold out. I just went around with a long screw driver and tightened all the lines under the intake manifold. Hopefully you'll be as lucky as I was and they will all be facing in a way that makes them accessible.
Yeah this happens to me on any morning ~35 degrees. It was a common enough problem that Subaru put out a Technical Bulletin on it, but no recall. It is just some fuel lines contracting in the cold. But I always procrastinate about doing something until it gets warmer and I forget about it.
there is a recall/TSB for early bugeyes for a braised joint in the fuel lines IIRC. happens when it gets cold
yeah very common problem, if tghtening them doesn't fix it then replace them. You can get the lines cheap enough it's just the labor that sucks.
Anyone want to have a group fix day for this issue. Mine has it also. I think taking the intake off is a big deal!
Really? Damn...just shitty fuel hoses aging? Then again, I have only had this problem once or twice last year, and never before then...
Go Here: http://www.gspp.edu/ login: gspp password: wonderful Go to: Library Scroll down and click on: EBSCO Host scroll down to: Auto Repair Reference Center, It has just about everything..........including recalls and service bulletins. You may also use this site for any research all the way up to dissertations. This for explicit use for my people at WRXAtlanta Donations are not necessary but appreciated LOL! Enjoy!
I just had mine done under an extended warranty. Subaru will charge you for this it is a service bulletin not a recall. If you have an extended warranty they may cover it. It is a PITA. If you or a mechanic etc. are doing this and you have the UI off, you might as well take advantage of it. This is a great time to do an APS hard pipe, TGV deletes, ported UI and phenolic spacers. SLOWWRX just did this for me. He can delete and port your TGV's and port your IA to match. I highly recommend it.
So its a common problem i see. Will it cause any problems if i don't do anything about it? And yes, a group fix day sounds like fun way to fix a problem.
