Thats mny c16 tune I was closer to 450. But I was running that on the stock 5mt without issue. Stock 5mt ftw.
Did a pull in third and the next time I went to second nothing but a god awful sound. 3rd felt absolutley amazing though.
On top of how bad it sucks that it broke, I need my car tommorow. That means I'll be swapping a tranny out tonight in my cold ass garage. Time to get to work.
Jeez. :wtc: I thought it was damn near impossible to break a PPG gear. I'm sorry man. Good luck with the swap. If I'd seen this earlier I would have offered to help.
I got the tranny out but there is no way I can get the other in by myself with the car on jack stands. If I had a lift I'd be done by now. I am giving up for the night.
I got your message. I am now rolling with one of those new fangled G1 phones so my phone can handle a text message. Maybe some not so bad news. From looking at the tranny fluid I would guess that a synchro has been eaten up. There were very few small shavings in the fluid and on the drain plug. The color is not silver like the gears. Its more a bronze color.
My original 5mt is back home now. The tranny is bolted up but I don't have all the other crap done. Hopefully tonight I'll have the time to crack the ppg tranny open and see what went wrong.
I have re01-r's on it now and an extra set of hoosiers for the track and auto-x. Doubt I'll be at the track anytime soon though. :wtc:
Unfortunately I'm getting pretty good at it. In the past 4 days I have pulled or helped pull 4 tranny's (3 of them my own). Hopefully the tranny will be fixed soon and I'll have another oppurtunity to hone my transmission swapping skills.
PPG's are only rated at 400 hp unless you get the dogbox FYI. And yes I know there are many out there that are taking a ton of abuse but there are also many broken ones. They 'have' to be darn near perfect spec to work right aka 'Let AndrewTech do the install'.
Damn that sucks, those PPGs are not cheap at all. Lemme know if you need help on saturday, i'm off of work then.
I'm cracking the case and the bottle of firefly open right now. We'll see which one gets done first. My rule is never drink during assembly but its a-ok to drink up when taking things apart.
I'm probably just about worthless helping swap transmissions... but I can come watch and heckle you. hurry up and tell us what happened!!!
