Huge THANKS to Doug for hooking me up with a ride for Santa Run. We took Dougs STI out to the Santa Run Time Attack today and after running 1:09s all day we were about to pack it up and head home. They decided to lets us run in the final round with the Top7. Well Lucky for me Doug gave me the go ahead nod and said its a whole lot more fun to go home winners. I laced up the driving shoes one more time and we pulled out a 1:05.4. We were the only car in the finals on a street tire...it was a good day to say the least. Dougs car was truly a blast to drive, the tune is flawless and the suspension is pretty dialed, I think he got some good feedback from this session, if you have an 08 Doug is doing all the hard work for you, he should have a whole package available soon. Look for his car to be in the 1:04s shortly. Thanks again to Doug and the crew from Topspeed that helped prep the car yesterday...excellent work. Hopefully Doug will let me drive it again once he gets the new sways on.
It was an excellent time, I'm going to post a writeup later about what I thought about the 08 in general and the BC Coilovers that Doug has on it.
Any in car or other video from the runs? One day I need to make ti by the shop and see that new beast.
Doug had a video camera but I wouldn't let him film me in car...I did not want him to know my Voodoo speed secrets.... Just kidding we forgot the camera.
OH and I think Siegel wants credit since he was my instructor when I started...everyone smile and nod it makes him feel better...
wait wait wait....does this mean you actually like one of the less expensive coilover sets? thats unpossible
Agreed, Matt you had that STi diving in the corners and it was glued to the track! I got tons of pics od the STi, not sure how they turned out yet though. Also, kudos to Doug for being a nice guy. He helped Sunny out while we were looking over his car. Doug pointed out an error for him. Doug = FTW! The event as a whole was a success. I hope to participate next year:sx:
Yes Sir, if you don't want to spend the cash to get the RCEs or some other coilover in 2k plus range these are truly the way to go.
Congrats guys, what all have you done to the new sti so far. My buddy that got second in the LS1 miata was curious.
Doug can correct this if its wrong but as the car was setup at the track. Topspeed Tune Catted Downpipe Coilovers Rear Sway Bar Removed Rear Seat Thats it.
Mods: BC coilover- 8k/10k Cobb ApV2 (topspeed protune) Invidia catted downpipe Enkie Rpf1's w/ Advan 285's upgraded fluid and brake pads Just for weight reduction... haha I removed the back seat and spare tire, but who doesn't. Oh and I also removed the rear muffler and made a turn down. While I don't think removing the muffler adds any power since I still have the stock mid pipe it does remove 30lbs.
The new chassis sounds vastly better! Awesome, can't wait to see some vid's of that thing if you do some down the line!
