haha, heres what im assuming led to it.

last night some of you guys may or may not have seen/heard about the wreck that happened on busbee parkway in kennesaw. i was on my way to meet Jason at taco mac afterwork and had to go through the ensuing roadblock. an officer who had just left the scene happened to be at taco mac and told us what little he could. he said apparently an Acura (of some sort) was street racing some other car (didnt say what) and the driver of the acura lost control hopped the median and hit an opposing 18 wheeler head on pretty much killing the driver instantly. when i found out the news, i was admittedly a little pissed. I immediately hopped on the phone and posted a thread in the Killsforum (i know a little harsh) that was titled "dumbasses street racing in kennesaw" that probly did it. but the post was exactly what i just posted here, with the added "stop street racing!!!" at the end.

no harm tho, i really never get on there. just pisses me off that its more than likely a frequent IA visitor who was involved (both parties).

and my sympathies go out to his family.

    but like i said

    STOP STREET RACING!!!!

I don't consider myself to be over sensitive or anything.. but putting a thread about someone dying in a "killsforum" is a lil much... I understand and applaud your message, but its a little harsh, especially if some on that forum know the guy.

I was wondering why the heli was over there.

I heard the engines racing down through there when I was at the mall.

Thanks for the heads up as to what happened. I was curious.

i don't, just think its funny that it was over something serious. and not like i was calling someone out or anything that usually gets someone banned.

instead over the loss of a life because of stupidity. but what are you gonna do. i might have 65 posts over there

they will usually ban u for talking bad about streetracing in the kills forum. it says if you dont like street racing...dont post in there. But you are right....who give a shit about IA and I agree with all of you street racing is for idiots.......idiots that endanger my wife and family and everyone else while trying to drive down the interstate.

This wasn't even interstate. It's a 4 lane divided street basically. It's one of the highest traffic roads in the area.

Yea you got banned for posting in the killsforum. If you had posted that in another section you wouldn't have been banned and would have had a few people agreeing with u.

So what's the scoop on that crash? Did the other car run away?

I know that several people will be mad at me for this and say that they would never street race but they are just one incident from the same fate as the Acura driver.

Those that do mountain runs and treat it as a race track are guilty of the same carelessness. Driving at 7/10ths on the road is ok in my book but pushing it to the 10's needs to be saved for the track.

Driving like an a**hat just needs to be avoided completely.

I always drive within my limits wherever I go. I realize mountain runs are also not that safe. The thing that makes them more unsafe is when amateurs or first timers go up and try to keep up with better more experienced drivers, pushing their limits and doing stupid shit like crossing the double yellow and driving in excessive speeds that they can't handle. I think in the case of flat out street racing you become more focused on the guy next to you then what your car is really doing or what is happening around you. In no way am I defending either, just stating what I feel the differences are.

In this particular case it was clearly just plain stupidity. A typically busy street, night, wet roads, high speed, obviously amateur drivers (believe the kid was in his late teens), and excessive speed, not to mention other possible factors. (alcohol, drugs, etc)

I'm sure someone says this exact thing in defending street racing.

truth be told, they are pretty much the same thing like Mike said.

This is just a sad event that could happen to just about anyone on here...

I'm not defending nor scrutinizing what he did, but I'm just glad he crossed over into an 18-wheeler instead of a family car full of kids...at least this incident was isolated to only his car and not some other innocent vehicle that happened to be in his path

Does anybody else find it wrong to judge somebody that just lost their life. Sure he was doing something he shouldn't have been, but who hasn't done something stupid. Think how his family feels about their loss. Note, I am not defending in any way street racing. I just think it's kind of wrong to post a thread bashing a guy that lost his life prematurely.

agree 100%, i cant say i have never challenged some guy i see on the highway, and im 19. It is very dangerous and i know that, its just sometimes you think it could never happen to you. I speed ALOT, just like any other teenager. I lost my friend a few years ago in a car accident and they made it seem like it was just another teenager speeding, although of course all his friends and relatives didnt see it as that at all. have some respect :'(

Thats what I was saying to to OP about his post getting him banned. I agree that street racing is dumb, but I'd venture to say we've all done it at one point or another in our lives... I don't see how dumping on the guy post mortum helps... Just my opinion.

    DING DING DING.

Street racing, and its discussions do not belong on this site. Take it to IA (unless you are jake;)). If this turns into another BS discussion about how "everyone has done it" the thread will be locked.

yeah I'm not bashing the kid by any means. I was simply pissed it happened and was calling out the other kid who clearly got away/left the scene

I'm kinda upset that the thread got deleted on there, I wanted to see how it played out.

Either way, I used to do that stuff a few years back but now that I've known 2 kids to die street racing I'm done. Honestly I hadnt even thought about how long it had been until this thread, I havent been out in over 2 years to anything organized. And those of you that knew about it knew that we did it as safe as possible (aka 2am runs 2hrs south of atlanta where there was nothing going on, some of the guys on here know what I'm talking about). We knew it was dangerous and shit happens. Rest in peace to everyone that has died street racing or as a result of street racing and god help their families.

the fact that it was called the "kills" section is poetic justice and their own damned fault for naming it that. i cannot think of a more appropriate place to put the thread. bravo to you.

So if a teenager tried to rob a bank and was killed by the police, you would all still feel the same way? The problem with street racing is not the fact that those involved like to go fast, like to drive and compete, the problem is the location and the legality. This comes up in EVERY thread about street racing on here. When you're on public roads, the Smiths with their four kids in the minivan are likely tooling around too, oblivious to the fact the the road is now a drag strip. Street racing is not just frowned upon, its ILLEGAL. There are various levels of bad decision making. When it crosses into the illegal category, involving the potential to the take the lives of other who are uninvolved in the decision making process, its going beyond a simple bad decision. I feel bad for the kid, his family, his friends, I honestly do! I understand that he didn't think about the consequences of his action, he never intended for anything bad to happen, etc, etc. But the fact is, he chose to participate in an activity which could have vary easily killed other, innocent, people. That's why so many are against street racing. Its not the going fast part or the having fun part, its the killing a Mom and her kids on the way home from the movies part....

Yeah I'm very guilty of street racing and being STUPID in the past until one very close friend of mine got killed doing the same thing.

Everyone critisizes me because they know my past accomplishments and they all want to try me but I constantly now am telling them no unless they want to shell out the dough to go to the drag strip plus cover my gas getting there (drag strip is a good 1 1/2 hours away).

It's amazing how fast you 'grow up' when someone close to you gets killed or even simply hurt. Also the fact that I'm married now with a family plays a big part. Yes I have a fast car. Yes I want it faster. No I won't race on the street. Since I live on open country roads that are very flat and straight I get the chance here and there to romp on it.

    Keep it safe guys!

Unfortunately once in a while someone has to die doing something stupid for allot of other people to go, “damn that was stupid I'm not going to do that”! He may have sacrificed his life unfortunately, but maybe he saved some lives, so his death was not in vain.
This is also the exact reason I am sticking with an open deck ej205 big16g setup. I don’t need a big hp car, especially since I don't have money to keep up with maintenance as a result of the track or strip. I would love a Sti or Evo but if you can't afford to race legally at the track or strip what's the point. Hell I don't even exceed the speed limit anymore let alone street race LOL. The cops have my area so hemmed up you will drop dead from paying fines prior to getting killed racing. When I have money to race legally than I will get a fast car.

I have to disagree here...just because you have a fast car doesn't mean you're an idiot with it. I enjoy the hell out of my car (over 35k miles per year) and try to do it responsibly. I usually go with the average speed in atlanta (which is well above the speed limit, btw) while enjoying the occasional auto-x and mountain run. I guess it's the spider man mentality of with great power comes great responsibility. I don't street race (nor have I ever in my STi), but I don't think you should only own an STi or Evo if you can track it. I would recommend my car to anyone who thinks with their head first...
