I actually bought this car off of a friend of mine, mpaone. It is super clean. At autocrosses I should still be behind the wheel of the DIYAutotune.com Turbo Miata in SM2 next year but on those occasions that the car will be unavailable I'll be driving this. I'm not sure if I'll stay in D-Stock or do some mods and go to STX. I was so impressed with the GTI's chassis so I am really looking forward to seeing what this thing can do. I know it is heavy but the flat Tq curve (or is it a line?) should make coming out of slow speed turns a breeze
Nice pickup dude....now pull that steering wheel off and send it to Alex. They wrapped a GTI wheel in alcantara and it looks AWESOME
nice... yeah the torque is nice.. How do you like the DSG? I have only heard complaints, but never driven it.
As much as I like VW's, they've always had lots of problems. I liked my last VW too (bought new), but it had 45+ days in the shop in the 1st year. And every morning I brought it in the line for dealer service stretched out the dealership parking lot. The longest Subie service line I've had to wait for is.... 1. I still love VW's, but the only solid thing about them is steering feel/structure. BTW, nice new car!
I already have these wheels waiting to go on The DSG is fantastic in 95% of all driving. The only thing I don't like is that it agressively seeks out 6th gear inDmodfor gas savings, so you can catch youeself needing more revs at 45mph to get up a hill or pass. It was worse in the GTI but the R has tq to spare. guys, let's not turn this into a VW reliability thread. I know they've had their problems as has every manufacturer. My subie was down 4 times for tranny noise. twice over 60 days so don't get me started. But the new generation of VW's is very reliable.
Not when it comes to fit, finish, ride quality, interior quality...I know Mini is made by BMW, but the VW's are closer in just about every way...
very clean, love it.... thats alot of plastic under the hood.... scrap that crap it just retains heat!!!!
Funny you should say that It is actually at APR right now as the developement mule for their R32 tune. I will race it under the stock map of course.
Nice choice of wheels! I am looking at a set of RS4 or BBS LM reps for my A4. I hope the R32 comes out well. I want a tune so bad, but I am playing the $ game right now. Good Luck!
APR did nice work! I can't post up the dyno's just yet but the low and mid RPM gains are pretty substantial. APR had the car since the second week of Christmas creating the flash. They asked me not to post up the dyno chart just yet, as they will posted it up when they official release the software but I can tell you about the gains. FYI their dyno reads on the conservative side. 93 Octane: Crank Tq Up almost 18 lb ft from 2,800 – 3,250 RPM Smoothed out the big dip at 4,250 and gained 15 lb ft Crank Hp Up 20hp at 5,500 RPM and consistently up 10hp across the band Peak HP up 5hp at 6,000RPM Wheel Tq Up almost 12 lb ft from 2,800 – 3,325 RPM Smoothed out the big dip at 4,250 and gained 11 lb ft Wheel Hp Up 13hp at 5,500 RPM and consistently up 10hp across the band Peak HP up 5hp at 6,000RPM 100 Octane: Nearly identical HP & TQ in the higher RPMs but about 5-8 lb ft more tq across the lower RPMs. You’ll have to see the dyno to fully get it. Driving impressions: Frankly, I had very little seat time in this car in stock form but I did have a first gen 3.2 TT for a year. The R32 is way more responsive from a stop and pulls harder and smoother than stock for sure. Thanks to APR for their assistance. They gave me a tour when picked up the car yesterday and it was immaculate and very high tech.
Complaints? You kidding, the DSG is one of the best transmissions I have ever driven. A bit of an awkward engagement, which creates a slight lag time compared to a torque converter but after thats is great! Although, I really want to drive one on a gas engine, the DSG's I've driven have been paired with the diesels.
some new pics Pictures with the new wheels.I'mnot sure ifI am feeling them yet And the dude behind the wheel
thanks guys, the Tq curve is the main reason I bought this thing. It pulls down low and revs freely. it is like a 3/4 small block chevy motor. Pankopp, what color is your R? Please pos up some pictures. I love the 04 and almsot bought a one a couple of times but the new chasis is so much better than the old one.
